Okay, so is anything meant to be or is everything meant to be? Or is it not and things just happen to be?

There are so many thoughts about why we are here and why we do the things we do. When you think of the why, do you include everyone in the why or just you and your friends?

When you think of other people do you ever consider the possibility that these other people might become your friends, or are your friends, or think of you as friend?

Do you ever daydream that you are the creator and you've just lost your abilities to influence everything around you because you wanted to be human and experience your world?

If you had the possibility to become one with everyone, would you take it? What if nobody had to loose their individuality to do so?

Did you love me in the past?

Would you like a diet coke?

Oooo, here's another question. Why do you come to these polls and answer questions or ask them? Are you here because you're interested in what the people here have to say? Are you here because you wish to state your mind on the comic? Do you benefit in any way by any of the Q and A's? Do you come here for comfort?

Geez Rico, what else do you know about me? All of this time I was asking people like my friends and the higher being and all I really needed to do was ask you because you had the single answer to all of my questions.

Is that question meant to be answered or do answers just happen? Who means for them to be answered, is it the person answering or some higher power which compels them to answer?

That question deserves a sincere answer, maybe a bit too personal for some people's taste though. I'm really cusrious as to what the responses will be. (if any?)

For me and I think for alot of people, the attraction of messageboards in general is being able to participate in a group of people who share a common interest, whether its a comic, a discussion topic or otherwise - you almost immediately feel a connection because the things they have to share are usually very familiar (or interesting) to you.

Its great to have lots of friends in regular life (I wont say real because who's to judge reality - just because we communicate in a virtual environment, that doesn't make us any less real), however its easier to share your feelings and ideas with people whose interests are similar or common to yours.

Its also nice to have intelligent discussions about things that many people treat negatively or wont understand without feeling like you're being judged.

Sure its easy to find friends, but have you ever really thought about how hard it is to find someone to discuss your TRUE interests with? I have, and unfortunately, its been very hard. And even if you find someone, its just as difficult to keep their attention.

If you cant share interests with a friend then how can you consider them a true friend?

Am I interested in what others have to say? of course! I love listening to and discussing people's views and ideas. I would hope that everyone posting feels the same, if you didn't then why would you be posting??

As far as the benefit of the Q's and A's, well I think the primary benefit is being able to share your viewpoint and get honest feedback. Its an emotional benefit, not a material one.

I dont know anyone who likes to ask a question or give an honest opinion and be ignored... do you?

So in response to your final question, maybe it IS comforting, but that comes on a different level... acceptance. Sometimes it really hurts being rejected for just being you... and this is one of few places where you can be yourself, speak your mind, and still be treated like a person.

I think there's another factor then a shared interest to participate in a message board.
It's actuallya factor that's everywhere around the net, called anonymity.
Sometimes it's simply easier to ask a question, or discuss something, without having to face the opposite person, you don't have to worry about your body language and mixed signals (what sometimes is a downside though too, what I'll undoubtly admit). Well, and for the shyer persons (where I include myself) it's simply easier to talk with them someone then at all.
You simply don't have to worry to see the person everyday or run into the one accidently you discussed with, in case the discussion developed unhappyly.

Plus, on the message board, you have the time to think about your answers, to write them, change points and facts you accidently used wrong before posting, or decide to leave out something that might be rude when you re-read it.

That's a good point, and I can see that being an advantage for many people, but for me anonymity isn't much of an issue. I've been judged negatively by so many people both in life and on the net without doing anything wrong that I just dont care anymore... in some cases without doing anything at all... so I would rather present myself as is and see what kind of feedback I get. At some basic level that shows me the mentality of who I'm dealing with because no matter how hard people try to pretend, their personalities show and I'm one of those quiet, analytical people who has to read other's actions before I decide on a response.

I assume the best in everyone on first impression, but after truly 'reading' their emotive language I can decide from there whether or not I believe that they will accept me for who I am. It IS true that you can always tell whether or not someone dislikes you - the key is paying enough attention to realize it and deciding on how you will handle it. (pushing them away is rarely the best solution)

You're definitely right about that sometimes being a down side... Here when you respond to things, its harder to express emotion so there's a higher probability of misunderstanding. You also have to try not to leave anything undefined or some people tend to assume the worst and then get down your throat for no reason.

Yeah, I agree with that too. It's nice to be able to 'fine tune' a response before giving it, but that's really at the discretion of the person posting... some people dont care and just state their mind, offensive or not... sensibly or not... But that brings another advantage because you encounter those same people in regular life and here its easier to discuss things with them without interruption, without yelling, and if they truly want to argue with you, they WILL read your post so they can decide on a response or to decide not to respond.

Yet another advantage is that conversations can go on for days, weeks, months? people join the convo, others leave the convo, but its continuous - people can communicate on their own time.

My head hurts.
