Anyway yes...your favorite colour is blue. But why? Why why why? Is it magical to you? Yes! I have seen it in many a magical story as the colour of warning that danger is near. The blue that warns that goblins are near! Or treasure...or a pooka on pixie crack!

(I think, just to set the precedent, if someone writes a slash fic featuring Janus, who's 11, I'm going to have to do them serious harm; just as a warning to others. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">)</B><HR></BLOCKQUOTE><P>I've read all three chapters of your story and have enjoyed them! But seriously though, Tolkien in his younger days was probably like you...he probably had someone to aspire to that was great and maybe he had a friend that boldly compared him to that great person. It's at least a sign for me that the attested inability to use magic might be <I>far</I> off, when his magic color manifests that way already. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.g ... There used to be a lot more blue things in there, but I changed some around for variety. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif">

Maybe he isn't using the magic. Maybe the magic is using Janus. Maybe his hair was blue because the magic wanted it to be! Maybe I'm just going off because I'm on pixie crack! What are the color of your sox?

I wonder, How could he hide his magic from the magic testers?
Or is it simply so, that he can just refuse to use it, and the testers don't notice they get tricked then?
Would depend on how you're able to see the magic in a person, I think.

What magic testers? You can either do magic or you can't. Unless Janus is launching fire balls around, it's not exactly an obvious thing. He's being discreet and hiding things. Therefore, nobody can tell.

Outtake of the first story:
<i><font size=1>"The boy showed no signs of awareness of anything beyond his own consciousness. On Janus' fifth birthday, the sage had declared, with much regret, that Janus would probably never be able to learn or control magic."</font></i>

It sounded to me like there was some way a person was tested on magic.
I just couldn't tell if it's some kind of "Oooh, I sense the force in you" or more a "So, have you made anything fly lately? No? Too bad." way of detecting it.

You don't necessarily instinctively know how to use magic. It must be taught. Sometimes there's spontaneous uncontrolled incidents with young children, but these early manifestations aren't too common. What happened in Janus's case, was, the style of teaching to give children awareness of magic wasn't compatible with Janus's learning style. He just didn't get it when they tried to get him to use magic.

Elix, for example, turned her father's hair green by accident. She thought it'd be funny if his hair was green, and she suddenly found that it was, in fact, green.

*adds Spirits of Blue to bookmarks* I'll read up on it later when I have time. Promise!!

My stories: I usually try to write some ideas of what's going to happen. Example:
<center>The Adventures of Molly Gregorie
*Borelli is turned into a duck.
*Molly loses her way in Museum of Willowglen and finds secret panal with singing stones found inside.
*Duggle jumps off of roof and breaks his leg.</center>

Or something like that. That's actually the only story that I'm trying to write that had ideas. The Revolutionaries just started as a ramble like most of them come out.

But anyway...*goes to read SoB* TTFN.
