Well, if it's dead, then there goes my back- to school shopping spree. Are plaid skirts and pinstripes and bangles and leather also dead????

I always hoped I would get ideas if someone else starts something, so I could work on it.

Thoughts on different kinds of punk:
Well, firstly, you have the stereotypical old school punk, which is the plaid, the brightly colored mohawks (and whatever other kinds of outrageous hairstyles you can think of), spikes/studs on nearly every article of clothing, bondage pants (or substitue a good pair of suspenders hanging down behind you), usually boots (though occasionally you do see them wearing all-stars), stuff like that.
Next you have the other kind of punk which is sometimes, I THINK identified as emo-punk. Basically you've got the the tight t-shirts with odd logos, etc. on them or button-up-dress shirts, polo shirts, whatever else strikes them as being weird/cool; dress pants, (in the summertime you often see them wearing cut-off dress pants) or, alternately, ratty jeans; CONVERSE "CHUCK TAYLOR" ALL-STARS, these are pretty much a MUST. Frequently they wear hooded sweatshirts ("hoodies") or jackets covered all over with band patches and buttons. They also seem to have a penchant for DIY fashion, and generally carry a sharpie marker with them at all times (this is probably just a myth. But it SEEMS true, because you always see them drawing fake tatoos on their skin). Girl punks are usually more elaborate in this style, by the way, frequently wearing a large accumulation of necklaces and bracelets. These are the notorious people who are most likely to listen to either stuff on Tooth+Nail records, or 80's rock.
Goth punk or "gunk". I dunno if this is an actual genre, but this is what me and Devon decided to call it when we try to dress goth, because really we just look like a couple of punks who are trying to look goth. Um, yeah.
(For the record, Devon's "style" has been identified as Goth/Punk/Wanna-be-executive. Or, "gunkxecutive", as I call it. Heh.)

Anyway, there's prolly a lot of stuff I've left out, but those are the two main stereotypes. I really hate stereotypes, and I feel like a sellout for even bothering to write this, but, oh well. This is just an FYI for people who don't know.
(Of course, I don't really KNOW, either. I just act like I do.)

And yes, punk rock IS dead.
~Gloria~

I dunno I have seen a lot of kids dress all in black with punk accessories. Kinda like they cant make up their minds about what they are. Thats the closest thing that I've seen that could be identified as goth/punk.

Shhh, punk isn't dead, it's resting...
goth on the other hand is definatly dead.

Either that or, while they like the style and the outlook of goth or punk, they're afraid of being pigeonholed. Kinda like why you hear Faith Hill on both the country and contemp stations.
She doesn't want to be labeled(that and twice the audience means twice the income.)
