totaly unrealated to untitled, but...
Hm... My bass is a um... well, it says Cort on the head thingy... my dad got it for me at a pawn shop for about $75, and that included the case with the ugly, fuzzy yellow lining... Oi, can't you tell I'm ignorant? I'm the sort who's more interested in the music than the hardware... heh.
I can also play piano/keys, and my genuine Irish tinwhistle that I bought for $10 at this world music festival thingy in Silver Dollar City, which is an amusement park in Missouri.
I can also whistle through my teeth. Everybody hates it when I do that, though.
And Devska, if you can sing, you can do something musical that I CAN'T do, you know. Heh.

------------------

out of curiosity, what type of bass do you have gloria?
and does anyone else on this board play an instrument?
i shall start it off by raising my hand.
i have three guitars, two keyboards and this cardboard ocarina thing i made a few days ago =P.
one realy suckey toy keyboard thing that belonged to my sister but she never used it so i "apropriated" it.
a yamaha keyboard i got after i descovered i could actualy play the toy thing.
then i got an accoustic guitar because the keyboards were boring and soul-less.
then came the crappy cheap eletric guitar that is falling to peices.
and about two weeks ago i got my pride and joy, a gibson epiphone sheraton. black with gold hardware *drools* i now have tendonitis cos i have been playing it almost non stop since i got it.
the ocarina takes too much windpower, as it is crappy. i'm thinking of getting some clay and trying to make a real one. hopefully this progect will be completed, unlike my trebuchet, my chainmail, my glow in the dark spiders web, my dartboard-o-brittney-spears...
Hmm... I play drums (somewhat terribly), and I own a violin that I am attempting to figure out how to put rosin on the bow with. I'm a vocalist in a budding emo/industrial band (cmon, I can sing, doesn't that count for ANYTHING?) ; ) And all my friends are TERRIBLY more musically talented than I.
-Dev

I got a bass and a totally mistuned guitar (i never figured out how to tune it properly myself).
And other instrumant around me that I don't play frequently is the keyboard of my sis, and the xylophone buried in a pile of stuff in my closet.
Oh, and not to forget, a pair of bongo drums!
that'S it

But the only instrument I play with a use is the bass, in the orchestra of our school musical, and in some sort of band (it's more like a group of people that decided to pep up our prom with some decent music).

Uh-oh, music question! First off, I would have to say again, anybody who can play Five Iron Frenzy on the bass(that means you Gloria) is totally awesome! And despite what Ironpaw says, he's actually good at drums, he just created his own style; it's way different, but it's actually pretty cool! As for me, I own three guitars. I have a twelve-string acoustic that is an official guitar used by The Lettermen, a cheap Warlock, and a wicked Epiphone bass. They all put out relatively good tone, especially the 12-string, if anybody likes playing praise/contemporary guitar, get one! I play piano too, but I don't own one myself. We have a nice family piano, though. I've found that having more than one instrument really expands a person's music knowledge; if anybody only plays one instrument, pick up another. Playing guitar has made me a better pianist, it's kind of cool how it works out that way. Heh, pianist. Sorry. Time for sleep.

I don't play everything in my house, almost all of it.
We have three violins. I play, my mom plays, and so does my sister. I've played for 7 years. (It's WAY too long.)
We have a sax, which I play.
2 guitars, which I play, (sort of,) and my brother and mom do.
My dad plays the drum, (like congo drum,) and I like to bang on it.)
A piano, which my sister and mom play.
A little drum that has 8 diffent notes on it, like the stuff from Brazil. I can play Twinkle, Twinkle, Littlw Star on that!
A little hand harp thingy, which nobody has any idea on how to even hold it
Oh, and a mandelin, which I'm learning and VERY afraid of.
Wait, let me check and see if there is anything else. *goes and runs all through the house looking for instruments.*
Oh yah. My mom's old flute from when she was in middle school. Nobody plays that.
And my dad's old trumpet from middle school, that people make noise with, but that's all they do. Just sound.
I don't know if that's everything, but it's all I could remember or find.

Well, we've sorta tried, but it never really worked. I mean, my brother and sister will start to totally freak out, and then my mom will try and help them, and I'm going, "are we EVER going to do anything?" Anyway, it didn't work.

Hey, crazykid, did your family ever thought about founding a band?
I mean, enough musicians you already have...

Well, if you wanna count all the musical instruments in our house (well, actually most of them are in the garage)we have:
1 electric bass, which is mine
1 piano which is badly in need of tuning
1 flute, which my sister Roxy plays
1 trumpet, which nobody plays
1 or 2 trombones (i think we have two, I'm just not sure where the other one is), which my sis Veronica TRIES to play
1 tinwhistle, which I play
1 set of panpies, which I try to play, but am too lazy to.
1 practice chanter, which is one step below bagpipes, which I'm SUPPOSED to be learning how to play, but I'm not.
1 electronic keyboard... um, I forget what kind it is.
1 Alvarez acoustic 6-string guitar, which my dad plays in church every week
2 electric guitars, ones a telecaster that he plays in chruch and the other ones a, um.. I dunno. I don't remember the brand names, either.
plus my dad's set of congas, which permanently reside at the church. And a tambourine, and a cabasa (sp?) and lots of those little alien head shaker eggs...
I could learn to play guitar, if I really wanted, I'm sure my dad would teach me, however, guitar is a bit more complicated than bass, and we haven't been very consistent about having bass lessons, so I'd hate to think what would happen... My dad is the best musician I know.

BTW, Tim, can you play any FIF songs on bass? I think the most fun one that I know how to play is "Fistful of Sand". It's pretty easy, except for the intro....
*ramble, ramble, ramble...*
~Glo~

In this house...
We have a very awesome baby grand... *goes groping around downstairs to figure out where its from * Steinway and Sons* it was my grandmother's...
An electric keyboard... with mixer stuff that we always forget to use....
and electric "keyboard" a dinky little thing that my dad got me like 6 years ago for christmas...
a flute (which i can't play... it's my sister's)
and there used to be a sax (mine) until i quit...*i started cause it was loud... and i wanted to wake my parents up when i was practicing... considerate 10 year old huh?*
then of course there are the singing monkies...
[This message has been edited by Black Cat (edited 03-24-2001).]
Hey Gloria, sorry I didn't reply earlier, Devon had to point out to me that you had replied in the first place! Well, I really don't play FIF as much as I should. But the list is kind of long, at least it seems like it. Let's see...
The first song I learned was the intro to Third World Think Tank, off of Upbeats and Beatdowns.
On that album, I taught myself the main line for Cool Enough For You(that is one that I show off with, it's not that easy), I learned all of Combat Chuck because it's one of my favorite FIF songs of all time and got me into Christian rock in the first place, The cool part of A Flowery Song, and the intro to Beautiful America.
On the second CD, I know... let me look at the CD first... actually, I haven't bothered learning any of those.
Third CD, I haven't learned any either. I guess the only other song that I have learned and am very proud of is A New Hope, off of the live album. I figured the whole thing just by listening to the CD, it's a fun song.
So, I guess I don't know that much, but I know all of my favorite riffs, so I guess that's enough for now.

Heh, up until this christmas I didn't even OWN any FIF. The only way I knew any of their stuff was because I borrowed "Our newest album ever" from the library one time. I still don't have their first album, or the live album, OR "All the hype.." Neh. They really do have some totally awesome bass lines, though. Actually, their music is just pretty much awesome through and through.
Heh, I dunno. Other than FIF I don't really know how to play anything else worth bragging about a few of the harder Third Day songs, a couple of MxPx, a couple of Plankeye and Squad Five-0... Eugh, you can't really brag about Squad Five-0, though, except that "Bombs over Broadway" was one of the first songs I ever figured out all by myself... Disgustingly easy.
Yes, I'm officially rambling. And I get the feeling that the only person who really appreciates in when I ramble is Devon. So I better quit.
------------------

Hey Gloria, that's cool. To tell the truth, I really don't know many songs that I can play either. I just play whatever comes to my head, and every once in a while it's an actual song. Like poor Devon has gone through, hours of nothing but random bass lines. Right now I'm trying to learn slap bass, like that thumb up there. It's hard, I'm not very good at it.
I would have to agree about FIF, they are my favorite non-black metal band period. Although I don't know Third Day songs, I bet they're pretty cool too, that's cool that you know their bass lines. Hey, trust me, nothing is disgustingly easy when it comes to bass guitar, everything on bass guitar is beautiful.
As for rambling, don't worry, I can appreciate it too; I think that Ironpaw and I have become the ultimate kings of rambling; I think we've probably gone for five hours of talking about anything before. Scary. So don't worry about it, it's your message board, you can do whatever you want on it! YEAH! Oh dear, I think that I have met the rambler, and it is me. Time to move on.
*laughs*
Hey, everybody Tim is cool! *elbows Devska* Why didn't you tell me he was so cool? Oh, wait... I guess you did, didn't you? Multiple times....
*wanders off*
------------------
