Finally, some nakedness!

Well, it's actually more because of a funky effect that I wanted to use for Avatar than the desire for a naked character - don't be disappointed when it's not a big plot point - this strip isn't becoming DeViations

Here's a test render of what the effect ("chaotic skin") looks like. It's not a finished thing, the inside layer is ordinarily more translucent, but against this background it didn't work properly : <IMG SRC="http://floor13.keenspace.com/chaoticskin.jpg"> I like Avatar a lot, and have done since I came up with the idea while writing the storyline. She's a fun character, and quite a bit different from the norm...------------------

It's probably not entirely clear from the pic what's going on. Basically, Avatar's body is composed of nanobots - providing her shape and a certain amount of surface tension (in other words, you can touch her and she can interact with things just like a regular person) - but over this she's only got a limited amount of skin...that swims around her. Her face is always covered because otherwise it's impossible to see her expressions, the rest is pretty much at random. Like Nausicaa, she can make the nanites fuse any time she wants, giving her the ability to shoot those energy streams that it's pretty clear by now I think are quite neat

This is why she's naked - because otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the effect, and I think it gives her quite a good otherworldly look.------------------
