Disney is actually going to distribute the Miyazaki film Tanuki geisei Pom Poko. Now, this movie is about a Raccoon family that tries to coexist with the modern world...

Now, the Raccoon family are a group of warriors, as well, and tend to be rather good ones, defeating their enemies with their weapon of choice. Another piece of trivia, the raccoon is the Japanese fertility spirit, usually depicted as male with very... large... testicles... and in the film, the raccoons do crush their enemies with said organs.

Now, who wants to bet this thing has been shoved through the editing grinder to make it appropriate for "young American Audiances?"

I personally have not seen the original, but have wanted to. I still think I may be able to aquire it.

I don't see anyway that disney would be willing to realise it unedited, especially not with their name on it. When disney does these things, I don't think they have the furry community in mind. *sigh*

Furry community, was thinking more about the artist who made it.

Then again, Tennassee did ban all replicas of Michelangelo's David because it violated their Decency laws...

So... please, correct me if I'm wrong...

But your furre community gripe is... what? Saying that you guys want to see a warrior racoon crush it's enimies with thier phallus? Sure there are many people who would, but when you're taking in concideration the grander population who *is* going to see this movie...

._o I somehow... doubt that's what everyone in the furre community wants to see, let alone the general public. Let's not get started with a Disney bashing here because they'll emit something not exactly right for viewing. I mean, would you really be taking your kids to a movie that had that kind of content, reguardless who the creator of the film was? Maybe Disney shouldn't be touching it at all, but they are.

I actually wasn't refering to the furry community at all.

And as you said, Disney shouldn't be touching it at all. It isn't a huge stretch that the reason they are distributing this is because they really could use the money and at the moment, the fact that it is A) animated, and B) Oriental is a shoe in for a huge sum of profit.

The crushing bit occurs once, I believe, setting up the introduction. Though there is a sequence where two children are sitting on a "fur blanket" and the lines:

0:15:31.11 0:15:36.16 {~} Well, this blanket you fellows are sitting on...
0:15:36.16 0:15:40.24 {~} ...if truth be told is actually a part of my body.
0:15:40.24 0:15:42.16 {~} My privates.

I'm sure many people would consiter the situation to be pedophilliac in nature, though there is no hint of arousal or sexuality in the lines.

Finally, no, one doesn't take one's children to see such a film, it isn't geared toward them. I'd say this is more of a 15 or older film, than PG.

That was ment for Aenzi ;) And I've seen it spelled Furry and Furre... ;) Just a matter of who you talk to.

But hey, it's your community so however you want.

As for the little parasites..I mean sweet and precious children... *twitches* Completely true. But people see Disney's name attatched to it and think "Kiddie film!" and well.. hell breaks loose when they see it's not. Need I remind you of Gargoyles?

And just to clarify, it's the tanukis' nuts that are (a) oversized, and (b) their mythical weapon.

And the tanuki is real- In translation, it's actually referred to as a "raccoon-dog", but it is neither. It's related to the red panda.

Not at all, just out of resepect of the artist and people like the furry community, I'd like some version of the original to be available somewhere...
