Stupid question.

Post by Gildedtongue »

Just a small thing brewing in the back of my head lately, looking at the comic. Now, I know it's common in the fur fandom, or any sexually based world, to completely write out STDs. Let's face it, VD isn't fun. I was wondering if that's the case in K&KB, of if Yiffburg has a large clinic, or if I should shut my dumb mouth and just enjoy the story, hehe.

I don't think that's such a dumb question at all. In fact, I've thought of the very same thing many times before, but I decided the issue of VDs was probably best left suspended. It's possible that there simply aren't any cases of things like that among the furs who sleep around freely in Yiffburg, but I can't imagine the catastrophe if somebody infected with, say, AIDS decided, upon religious revelation against the sins that infected him/her, to become covert terrorist against the citizens of Yiffburg. Diseases are one of the main reasons I cannot imagine a true Yiffberg on Earth.
I'm 74, weigh 183.48, and, by the way, I'm a solid.

There IS such a thing as a stupid question, but it's not the question first asked. It's the question repeated when the answer has already been given.

Short answer, as I have pet cats, IRL: Yes, they do get STDs, and there is a feline version of AIDS.

The most prevelant STD cats get is chlamydia.

STDs and Yiffburg.

Hmm. Well, Boinkberries act as contraceptives. It's possible they could act to prevent some/all of the STDs, too.

No, of course it's not a stupid question, no question regarding health and
disease is ever stupid. In brief: except for AIDS, there are indeed STD's
in Yiffburg's world - they aren't that prevalent in Yiffburg because (1) there
isn't any stigma about talking about them or getting them treated, making
it a lot easier to just go to the doctor instead of being embarrased, and (2)
Yiffburg is pretty much a closed community, not that many outsiders visit
there.

Well, I can think of one thing he does seem to resemble! But he's an interesting one.

Well, maybe he's a mole rat, or some type of underground rodent. or a chipmunk?!? I dunno, he looks more like a blob to me.

I think he'll be the next to cross over to the yiff side :)

As I said, there really any such thing as stupid questions, so please feel
free to ask. And to be completely honest, I had in mind a rather pointedly
sneaky metaphor in mind when I designed not just Fleecer but all four of
the legal types in their group (when they first appeared in my Cumbria
crossover story). If you look at all four of them, none of them are really
the common furry types, although Hokumm and Skamm are vaguely
murine. The underlying message is that lawyers aren't really from any
well-known species... they're strange, unknown things that lurk around
in our world with their own mysterious (and usually evil) goals in mind.
But that metaphor was just itching to be fooled around with, so in this
story I get to create others just like them. Which means that they really
are functional species; they just haven't been seen a lot. ^_^

Ah... you are too subtle for us, M'sieur Kat! Should've caught that... a lawyer as an unprincipled, alien creature, not too far a stretch come to think of it. But their potential was something you couldn't pass up? Heh heh!

I'm not sure it was Hokumm to whom Kat was referring to, though...

Kat actually posted up back when Darleen showed up what the pair were. A type of... rodents found in.. europe(?), if I remember right.
