The cat-boy is a rogue of sorts, always buckling his swash and swinging his saber. He gets in more trouble that he looks for, but hey, that's why cats get nine lives.

The dog-girl is a librarian. She shelves books.

I see the reference in your link now. I tried to take a step away from normal 'furries'. I know they're overdone, but I wanted to show feline and lupine crossbreeds as a member of the world of Role Playing. So I created a cat-boy, not you usual cute catgirl (or smoldering cheetah temptress), and gave him a profession and expression befitting the dark, scheming, angular features of a cat.

On the other hand, I found that most dog or wolf crossbreeds are hunched-over and bred for combat, so I was inspired by my host dad's little lap dogs, who couldn't defend themselves from a strong breeze.

I also like stories and the fact that I've loved several of the past drawings. And that they are inspiring me.

That would explain the back flips they do in the breakroom. And Technical services are the pirates. They keep upstairs. Least, the able seaman do.
