"Forcing me to fall back on my martial arts reflexes to jog my memory, I never thought of that..."

Isn't that so much like how everyone tries to make Kenshin Himura back into the Hitokiri Battousai? I think so. So it's not only Trigun (Though perhaps MAINLY Trigun) But has aspects of DBZ and Rurouni Kenshin too.

I love Rurouni Kenshin. I especially love Soujirou Seta. ^_^ I've seen The first story arc "Wandering Swordsman" and the second one "Legend of Kyoto" now I wanna see the THIRD one! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! GO KENSHIN!

I found Kenshin after Evangelion. And Slayers was my favorite anime before Kenshin, but Kenshin is #1!

And Dennis, you've never seen Rurouni Kenshin? You should! It's a great anime! I've also seen Samurai X which is the backstory of Kenshin. But I prefer the anime. It's happier. Not that I don't like depressing animes. I do. I just learn lessons from them, but a depressing anime can never be my favorite, it has to have it's silly points to.

ugg...

Kenshin's great, but I swear I'll never get used to hearing "Samurai X", which ios the American name for it, not the backstory. That's the OVA or, in america, Samurai X the Movie. I'll never get used to the dubbing/subbing, either... using their own scripts, the bastards.... KENSHIN IS NOT YODA!!!!!

*ahem* Okay, I'm better now.

I like Kenshin's dubbed "That it is" I think it's cute. But you know why they probably put it in? Japanese has a lot of syllables you know. they have a lot of long words for shorter ones we'd use, so it's probably mainly compensation.

Well yeah, that makes sense, but it doesn't mean I have to like it...

I'm sorry, but I own every episode in it's original japanese. Watching Samurai X after seeing the whole series and knowing it all in it's original form puts a serious tain on it. Maybe if I had seen it first, I'd be able to take it. But, for now, I'm just gonna have to stick by the Hitokiri Battosai.

Actually, it's because Kenshin as the Rurouni speaks in a very polite way, while as the Battousai, he speaks very bluntly. For example, in referring to himself, as the Rurouni, he uses "sessha," literally "this unworthy one," and as the Battousai, he uses "ore," a very masculine and direct form. Also, as the Rurouni, he frequently ends his sentences with "de gozaru yo," an archaic form of "de gozaimasu," which is a very polite ending to a sentence.
When Media Blasters did the translation, they needed a way to distinguish between the two personalities' ways of speaking, since English doesn't have the levels of formality that Japanese does, so they came up with the "that I do" for the Rurouni. If you watch the sequences when he's the Battousai, you'll see that he doesn't use "de gozaru yo," and there's no "that I do" in the subs.
It's a way of expressing Japanese levels formality in English, sort of like the "-ster" for "-chan" they used on the Magic Knight Rayearth Season 1 VHS tapes.
