Another update... I don't think I can get Monday's comic done on time; it is late at night and I'm working on homework and preparing for another exam soon. Never mind that people keep bothering me :x and I'm trying to read at the same time... now I can't concentrate on making Monday's comic, so it'll probably come on Tuesday (Oct. 5). Sorry for the delays!

The Wednesday (Oct. 6) comic is up, on Thursday :-? I've been busy, as usual, with schoolwork and social responsibilities. However, the improved art of the Oct. 6 comic (fuller backgrounds, neat table perspective) is worth the wait, I guess...

Chez Nous? I needed a restaurant name and I thought of that particular line from the Yes song "Love Will Find a Way"; apparently a real restaurant in Los Angeles exists with that name.

Suzy's mother drives an "old junker Cimarron" - the Cadillac Cimarron, essentially a Chevy Cavalier with "Cadillac" stamped on it. Last manufactured in 1988, so you know Suzy's mom ain't jokin' about the state of the family car; you can find pics of Cimarrons (not old junkers) here.

The Friday comic will be delayed slightly, since the storyboard for it isn't finished yet. I don't have storyboards/scripts done in advance like I used to do, so some of the details in the stories are really last-minute ideas. Fall Break at school begins next week, so that'll give me some time to catch up on stories and comics. Again, thank you for your patience.

Sorry for the lack of a comic for Friday... it was a busy weekend, in which I went to visit my father and find out about the family reunion next Saturday (in South Carolina.) Fall Break has begun, however, so I have some time to play catch-up and get the new storylines scripted...

Hello again, it's Jason, the cartoonist for Seriously Suzy. Now that school's back in session after fall break, there is a test plus two due-very-soon papers that await me. Therefore a comic or two may come this week. As always, updates are posted here ASAP.

One paper down (actually, a rough draft of a composition for my Spanish class), one more to go (this one is an actual paper due this week, not a rough draft!) I think I'll use my remaining free time to script more comics (perhaps for next month), instead of stressing about making new comics on time.

Aye, it's been one busy week... I've managed to script only one comic, since I had to finish the aforementioned final draft (it's about varying physical education requirements in K-12 schools, plus the pros and cons of increasing P.E.), then get a used tire put on the car. The rough draft of my Spanish paper needs only some minor corrections and then it becomes a final draft (it has to be a biography, in Spanish, of a famous Hispanic person, so I chose to write about Carlos Santana.)

I also found time to do some more catching up of movies I've missed... this week, I caught Super Size Me on DVD. Today, to help finish off the week, I survived standing over an hour in line at the local library to cast my vote early (because I have a State & Local Gov't test and a Spanish vocabulary quiz on Nov. 2.) Then tomorrow morning, I'm heading to the local zoo with the digicam (weather permitting.)

In comic news: I've enhanced a feature that I've been working on for a while... now, on each Seriously Suzy comic page, you can click on a link to read my commentary about each comic! Be aware that I'm fine-tuning the presentation of this feature, and the comics from late May onwards do not have commentary yet.

More comics are on their way... when the muse strikes me :)

Hello and apologies to those awaiting the latest installments to Seriously Suzy. I had to consult on my brother's science fair project (about model rocketry), which kept me busy for most of the week. It is late at night, the project is now finished and I am fried! New comics coming soon when I write scripts for them.

P.S. Thanks to those who've discovered Seriously Suzy through The Webcomic List and have been coming back when I've updated. The comic is now ranked at... #117?! :o

Happy Turkey Day!

Post by SunConn »

Happy Thanksgiving from the staff of Seriously Suzy! I've got some time off for the holiday, so therefore I bring you a comic for Wednesday Nov. 24 (it is late because I've been cleaning house.) I've also done some tweaks and additions to the site; one thing I'm working on now is a redesigned gallery page. Be sure to check out the commentary; I've added comments about the Nov. 22 and Nov. 24 comics.

Hello all. The Friday, Nov. 26 comic is on it's way... when I went to update the site about an hour ago, there were about 1,500 other Keenspace comics ahead of me in the update queue. As I'm typing this, the number has shrunk to 1,100, so it'll be a while before the newest comic is displayed.

Hello and sorry for the long delay between updates. I'm aiming for new comics to begin on Monday, January 24. So far, I don't know if I'm updating three times a week; looks like it'll be twice a week or even once a week depending on how the hardware behaves...

Hope everyone had a great holiday season... I spent most of it shopping, being with family, winterizing the house, etc...

Hello there. It's been a while since the last update. Lately, one-half of the home network started acting up, and it finally refused to connect via DSL. While my phone company is sending me a new DSL modem (free of charge :D), I've decided it was time to reinstall Windows on the living room PC (it's been about 2 or 3 years since I installed Win98SE on it, and I later found that the old DSL modem does work 95% of the time on a fresh Win98 install.) In the time between PC headaches, I've been scripting comics (though rather slowly.) Also caught up on movies I've been wanting to see... we rented I, Robot earlier this month, and I saw The Village this past weekend and thought it was pretty good (I guess my suspension of disbelief was in high gear, ready for the ending.)

Tomorrow, March 1... it's been one year since the launch of Seriously Suzy! :o I was planning on new comics starting on March 1, 2005, but the aforementioned tech problems have derailed that plan.

This has happened at least once or twice, it might become a running gag:
Q: How does a Keenspace reader know that the newest installment of Seriously Suzy is on the way?
A: When the Keenspace server is going through some weird error just before the new comic displays.

Seriously (no pun intended), from all available reports, it looks like the Keenspace servers are having technical difficulties, just as I have the latest comic ready to go. Oh well, we'll just wait and see... if the Keenspace trouble still persists, I may start up a barebones backup site with the newest comic.

Some more movie catching-up... on Friday I saw The Incredibles before it left the local theater... probably the best movie I've seen in a long time! :)

The March 28th comic should be up... um, soon (however, keep reading.) I believe the Keenspace server is recovering from its crashing spell, because everyone's favorite redhead is #2200-something in the AutoKeen update queue...

In fact, I think I'll start work on a backup site, where I won't have to wait for 2000+ comics to update before my humble Seriously Suzy updates. Unfortunately, I'm still a student, which means I can't spend money on a hosted site, therefore... I've picked an Angelfire site URL... yeah, I know... pop-ups and banner ads galore... but, um, hey, go and support the Internet economy  Site details coming soon.

Anyways, don't be alarmed if the March 28th comic looks identical to the March 17th comic. Well, it used to be the March 17th comic... because of a big oversight in the storyboarding process, I had to swap dates with what was the March 17th comic (comic #50) and comic #51 (the newest comic.) Therefore, follow the directions underneath the "Site News and Updates" section (only when it says "March 28, 2005") below the comic and you'll be just fine. :)

Oh, yeah... coming up on May 5 of this year, it's Online Comics Day 2005! At http://www.comicsday.com, there will be a list of participants and links to their special comics. (Right now, it's listing participants of OCD 2004, including Seriously Suzy, but it will soon be updated.) I am in the planning stages of my OCD 2005 entry, and I plan on making it unique this time... also, the date of the event is very unique chronologically: 05/05/05!

That is all for now... it is raining lightly right now as I type, about 48 degrees F, and it has been raining most of the day.

This is Jason, with a quick note that Thursday's comic (6/23) will be delayed a bit... by the way, it'll be the 60th Seriously Suzy comic (counting the almost-OCD 2005 comic.)

When I'm not working on comics, I sometimes think of adding new stuff to the site... I have a couple of new drawings that have yet to be scanned; I've also given thought to including a storyboard scan or two (to be accessible from the commentary pages.)
