can I make a request?

I'd like to see BoxJam do a "flip take" as
explained here:
<A HREF="http://www.lileks.com/comics/jerry/index.html" TARGET=_blank>http://www.lileks.com/comics/jerry/index.html</A> <P>Lileks has old and bad 'toons on his site.
In case yer interested.
<P>------------------
you certainly may visit <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/masterofallhesurveys" TARGET=_blank>james & kim's fun page</A>
(no toons, other stuff to waste time)<P>[This message should have been edited by TeenIdol.]

My favorite flip-take comic growing up was a
thing in the Washington Post called "The Dropouts"-
buncha guys on a deserted island, presumably on
purpose.<P>A friend of the doodle also let me know about a
comic that is keeping the flip-take alive in the
Latino comic world - <a href=http://www.condorito.cl/tirasc/index.php>el Condorito</a>.<P>In Spanish, when you fall backwards, you make the "plop" sound.<P>I once did a comic - pre-BoxJam - wherein an
unnamed character was talking to a guy named
Mark - a young banker.<P>Mark had had a long day, and related that one
customer asked about CD's - and Mark was so
out of it that he thought the customer was talking
about compact discs rather than certificates of deposit.<P>The unnamed character did a flip-take.<P>It was an intentionally bad joke - I promise.<P>Some morning when I've got nothing you may well
see that joke as a doodle.<P>------------------

Oh my God, this site is funny!<P>"Flung himself backwards into a preexisting cloud of dust" -- HA! Funnier than the comic itself could ever have been!<P>------------------

R Crumb carried that on, as did Pete Bagge (Hate) of all people...<P>------------------

Bazooka Joe did flip takes, iirc -- it took me *years* to overcome the urge to read the comic. I'm a compulsive comic reader, and I always had to read the Joe comic, even though I knew it wouldn't be funny. It was like carrying on a relationship from which the passion has faded. Or a penchant for bologna. Or both, combined in a weirdly erotic melange of ...<P>
Well, anyway. It was hard to start *not* reading Joe.<P>------------------

just to be picky and difficult, i feel i should point out that it is actually _mrs_ boxjam doing the flip take (although it _is_ funnier, and more traditional that way). i love it though. especially the thought of what all that laundry must look like, flying through the air behind the scenes.

and i like the idea of the 'toon having a panel line, just so mrs. b can fall behind it -
