Smokers routinely start fires in the shrubs outside my office building. What gets me is the Powers That Be have a "*shrug* waddaya gonna do?" attitude about this. But if one of us NON-smokers started a fire, there'd be hell to pay.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Recently my company started a "no smoking campus" policy. You cannot smoke inside the building, but there are designated smoking areas in the back of the building. A couple of months ago, they sent an e-mail out stating that the company's campus would be "smoke-free" by July 1st and offered smoking cessation classes. A couple of weeks later the smoke-free date changed to January 1st. The last I heard, the company decided to ditch the no-smoking policy because they would be held accountable if an employee was injured in an accident because they drove off-campus to smoke a cigarette.So here's my question - why can't I have the same kind of time off for "beer breaks?"Amy

Another problem I have with smokers leaving their butts around buildings is that little puppies learning to use the outdoors will often snarf them up and become violently ill if you can't get their mouths open and emptied in time.Plus, it turns them into nic-fitting cig-fiends who would sell their favorite chew toy for a measly Marlboro Light.--Strange/Dave------------------

I agree that smoking is stupid. My parents smoked around me all my life. My lungs are probably blacker than theirs. I wouldn't be surprised if my mother smoked while whe was pregnant with me. (that would explain a lot, especially why I'm so skinny. lol) Smoking is bad, I don't advocate it. well, I'm kind of being hypocritical. I do enjoy a cigar now and then. Uhh...
