Um, I guess I'll let you be impressed that I could recognize a sycamore sprout really early in its life, then.
I think I'd have to class this one as a "seedling", though. Ahem. If I hadn't spent so much time mainlining blue, maybe I would have had time to clean my gutters, Boxjam.
It could have been worse. It could have gotten to the sapling stage. Not in a single year, though.
Now on the south side of the house, where the garage just has a slab and I don't have to worry about the overflow running into the basement -- well, there I have a nearly mature forest biome. Definite sapling action there, plus a decaying limb. (Tree limb, Lee. Tree limb. The other limbs are in the basement where I can keep an eye on'em.)

I thought the life advice below today's

And that was an inspirational story to boot.

There was a sycamore growing in my gutter. I thought about transplanting it. Does that count as an inspirational story?
The natural state of a house, of course, is a pile of rubble and humus -- and there's an archived Doodle to that effect as well.

You thought about it, but didn't, so it dosen't count. You can still gain some practical benefit from this though. Write an inspirational story about your failure to transplant the tree in a letter to BoxJam, print it out, eat it, try to give yourself a papercut whilst doing so, then don't eat again for three weeks while living in a toy aisle. There, you've checked off like six things from the list.
--riney

>>There was a sycamore growing in my gutter.
Like, your rain gutter? The eave of your
house?
I've had that happen with maples in the
spring. I'm either impressed that you could
recognize a sycamore sprout, or that you had
growing in your gutter long enough that it
was easy to recognize.
------------------
