This is extremely saddening - even moreso for me personally than when Sparky died, because animation is more of an influence on my work than comic strips. I knew his death would come sooner than later.

Yeah - thanks for the note, Amy.

I heard about it this morning. It saddens me, too. The guy's timing, in a medium where you're drawing still pictures, was just incredible. His explosions, movement, rock crushings, whatever - all had *impact* - they felt as big as they should. That's one thing I wish I could figure out better.

Anyway, he was maybe the best animator ever. I don't want to get into a debate about Tex Avery or Chuck Jones, but it's one of the two.
