Hrm. For a while, I've been trying to recall for the life of me what I was going to tell Mike. But I cannot recall it. And then I thought of a replacement thing to say, but I figured it should be broadcasted to the world. Or at least that section that happens to look at this here site.<P>Anyway, if it is playing somewhere near you, _SEE GHOST WORLD_! It's _AWESOME_. A couple of the TODCRA members, including myself, saw it even before it opened, and another member just saw it today. The one who saw it today drove an HOUR to get to the theatre. And LATER CLAIMED IT WAS WORTH IT AND THAT THEY'D DO IT AGAIN! TEN TIMES, IF THEY HAD THEIR DRUTHERS! <P>It's directed by Terry "Crumb" Zwigoff, and stars Thora "American Beauty" Birch, Steve "Fargo" Buscemi and Scarlett "I Have No Clue What Other Movie She Was In And I'm Too Lazy to Look at IMDB" Johannesen. Based off of Daniel "David Boring/Ghost World/Like a Velvet Glove Cast In Iron/Eightball/Other stuff too" Clowes' graphic novel of the same name. <P>The plot is sorta hard to describe.. it's really more of a character study, really. But yeah. Two of the TODCRA members (again, including myself) went to NecroWombiCon, and talked to Tycho, and at the recommendation of one of the TODCRA members (can I say that phrase any more? Damn this anonymity!) went to see GW with his wife about a week or two ago, and he said that it was excellent, and that Brenna goes and harrasses people into seeing it! And immediately after seeing it, he went to the Comic Shop nextdoor to the theatre (handy that), and bought Clowes' Books. <P>AND! Roger Ebert likes it, because Thora Birch has big tits. But that's not the _ONLY_ good thing about it! It would be good even if she didn't have any tits at all! Go see it! It's good! It's good! Hooray for Ghost World! Best film of 2001! And if it were released a year earlier, it'd even be the best film of 2000! All hail films that should win all Oscars but won't be nominated for jack! Hooray!<P>
So, in closing, See This Film.<P>Yes.<P>... this is probably a bad time to ask, but could you shoot me in the head and step on my brains just to be sure my horrible, miserable life is over? That would be neat-o.<P>------------------

Umm, is this the same Ghost World that was a comic by Daniel Clowes? Because if so, I'm there - or rather, I'm here and will be until it's released this side of the pond. I got the comic book a few months ago, and I must have read it about 5 times in a row. It's pretty amazing - a bit like "The Straight Story", in that nothing really happens, but you don't notice that nothing's happened until it's all over.

Indeed it is! I think it is gonna be released over there. I know it's actually playing in Japan RIGHT NOW, which is weird, because it actually played in Japan before it played in most of the US. So, hopefully it will make it over there (especially because the common Movie Studio idea is "those stupid arty things always seem to do better over in Europe"...), but yeah, definately, when it arrives, see it. And kidnap people to see it with you. <P>Well, perhaps not the kidnapping, but the subtle persuasion.<P>------------------
