Alisin's been slated to die for quite awhile. I won't say since Fans! began since T once said Alisin was the minor character that just stuck around. Heck, I remember debates about whether she belonged in the club or not.

Which kind of reminds me of the Stu debates, only with a bigger "pro" due to Alisin's *ahem* assets.

Seriously, I like all the characters too... As characters, that is. As people I might get along with in real life, I like many of them, but loathe a select few...
As far as Alisin goes, I never really know what to make of her, these days; she's generally been one of my favourites (I do play favourites, even if I like everybody), but if T's going to kill her off, I have confidence it'll be done properly and I'll be able to live with that.

I would take Tim living over AlisIn any day. Alisin has never belonged to the group really. she's just Rikk's girlfriend to me and seemingly to Skiffy on the whole. That's never good. It's like people who bring their girlfriends to role playing games and have them take part even if they don't give a damn about it. Or even worse, the St's s/o. *shudder*

Bob Newhart was a brilliant standup comic in the 60s, known particularly for his "phone call with historical figure" routines. You only hear his half of the conversation, but listening to someone trying to get Walter Raleigh to try to explain why smoking is a good thing is hysterical.

In the 70s he starred in The Bob Newhart Show, playing a somewhat neurotic psychiatrist (this was not yet the utter cliche it is now, though it was hardly a new concept). Come to think of it, I have a vague memory of seeing someone having a 'phone conversation' with someone who was dead on a PBS special once...maybe that was him?

Much as I like Alisin as a character, she does seem rather out of place with the Faans as a group.

Bob Newhart is the WASPs' ethnic comic.

Larry, Darryl and Darryl were a stitch.

The guy who played Larry also played J.H. Sebastian in Bladerunner, just so all the fen out there have a more familiar reference.

Meh...I doubt you're THAT old. I'm only 17...senior in HS. I couldn't believe that I'd ever get to this year...

And, sad to say, I have never *seen* Bladerunner. It's one of my many regrets, to date...I'll probably see it in college. I have a friend who, knowing him, probably has a copy...

His last sitcom, <i>Bob</i>, had him as the chief artist/creator of a superhero comic that was an unabashed rip-off of <i>Batman</i>. Unfortunately, the show really wasn't that great.

His classic first sitcom was The Bob Newhart Show. His second sitcom was Newhart. His third sitcom was Bob. As he commented at the time of its premiere, this left only The and Show as possible future titles.

On another occasion, he commented on the tendency to use cliched catchphrases (Gimme a Break!, We've Got it Made, etc) as sitcom titles, and thought to buck that trend by calling his next sitcom Not With My Cat, You Don't!.

back to the original topic, i don't think it would send rikk off the deep end. he would be devastated yes, but in that, he might turn to rmy for support. i think it would be good for her character, cause she would have to be strong for <i>both</i> of them.<br>
but i agree, alison should *NOT* die. she and rikk are such opposites that they're good for each other. they need each other to grow. Rikk and rmy would fit perfectly together, but that's just it: if they fit, there's no need to change. which is not necessarily bad, but definately not good.

BTW does anyone know why whenever i type a word like "deth" (spelled properly) it gets blanked out?

I don't know...I'm undecided on Alisin's character. Sometimes I can almost empathize with her situation, but on the other hand, it's almost like an excuse for her to be shallow sometimes. I'm starting to think that she's been told she's dying so many times she's actually believing it herself.

At this point, there are only two ways to develop her character further--kill her off, to see how she deals with the prospect of dying (she used to not care, and now she's found someone to care about), or have her disease cured, and see what happens to her now that she has the proverbial rest of her life to think about.
