This is the thought that went through my mind 29 seconds ago upon seeing the last frame...
Interesting that Kath invited the two down to meet Agent Jones (a prearranged meeting, appearently), I have to wonder if that means that the other new scifi club members are to be drawn into the Club's secrets...
As to Jones' possible reasons for... looking like a slackoff college student? Cover? That makes no sense... he's too old for that to be good cover... and it's too cold (look at the fog from the girl's mouths) to surf, or for that short-sleeved shirt... maybe he's trying to find his younger self and is very inept at it?
Might explain the bumper sticker...
And the Zen building? Er... philosophy?
Hmm... I ramble at times...

There is just something so fundimentally <B>wrong</B> about Agent Jones in a hawaiin shirt with matching sunglasses, something which it not possible for the human mind to resolve...<P>Heh, heh. I love it <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/biggrin.gif"><P>------------------

I'm not sure about the surf movie theme, but I'm willing to bet Jones's sudden change in dress and attitude are related to the mission, not his state of mind.<P>So, what sort of missions would require Hawaiian shirts and three females?

OK, I'm good now. The shock has worn off.<P>Now to the theorizing.<P>The first thing that I have to say is that Jones' wish has come true! Way back when he got the 23 sider he said that he wanted to be a surfer bum in [url=http://faans.com/d/20010502.html]California[/a]. As much as I doubted it would happen or this IS happening it's something to think about.<P>As I said else where, I don't think Jones wanted to contact Jackie, Kath, and Meaghan specifically but Kath was the only one of the "core" group present when he set up the meeting. <P>As far as the Zen Building T is either referencing IOU as mentioned earlier (I'll hafta check up on that link) or he's making a clever joke. Loved the title btw. I think Jones relishes the chance to catch the Fans off guard for once and do something unexpected. This should be fun.<P>------------------

In re: Agent Jones in a Hawaiian shirt ...<P>I'm reminded of a section of "Double Star" by RAH -<P>(From memory, not precise, but you'll get the gist of it)<P>"Can you disguise me with that stuff?"<P>"No, nothing I do could hid who you are. But there is ONE thing we can do - we can change the way you walk."<P>"But I'll still look like me!"<P>"But anyone who sees you walking with the pebbles in your shoe will say, 'Hey, that guy looks just like wozzizname. Can't be, of course, but it looks just like him.' since you won't have that spaceman's glide."<P>Badly quoted, 'tis true - but the main point is, nobody who KNOWS Agent Jones would EVER expect him in a Hawaiian shirt. So, it can't possibly BE him ...<P>RwP
I think I'm beginning to understand how Dirk Gently felt....<P>------------------

No, no, Quinch, you got it wrong. _Dirk_ got to go to Burmuda... Twice. Sorta.<P>I think I'll go lie down. I never _could_ get the hang of Thursdays. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">

Well, I think he did it just to put Kath and the rest of the Club at odds. Hmm... headhunting... well, appearently that meant the club are the sort of people, that can think in that way about pop-culture stories and gods... hmm...
And now he's given them information... lot's of information...
Told Kath nothing... merely spooked her, and discredited her infront of the new Club members...
Hmm...<P>Ya know, once when I was under anesthesia for a gum operation, I said quite distinctly "I'm surfin, surfin in hawaii..."
I've never lived it down.<P>I ramble in the dark of night.
