Mortality is never easy. The guy gets to watch his first love die.... What's that gonna do to him regarding Alisin? I mean, knowing SHE could die, too, without that extract of Virgin Goddess which may or may not come about, may well destroy our boy.Yes, I'm new around here. Welcome then. It was only a few weeks ago I was welcomed here.Wasn't the fact that one of them could die was the reason Rikk didn't want to be leader originally? I don't think death is something he's had to really deal with yet- merely the idea of impending death... Possibly, dealing with death might be his weak point...Or maybe I'm wrong.

At least he's released Rumy's hand. Clara would have jumped to the wrong conclusion if she'd seen that. "The two of you make such a cute couple!" or some similar remark....

I guess this story's going to move around a bit more than I expected. Perhaps the war that's its time for is a fight for life!?It should be very interesting. Hopefully we won't get any super beings or other emergencies to interrupt the lovely character development.------------------

I don't cry.But I cried tonight.I remember being in a similar situation back in June. My aunt was dying the same way, and they brought the hospital bed to the house, and I swear she looked just like Clara does now.And Rikk could've been me in that last panel.The really depressing thing is that wasn't even the worse thing that happened to me that summer...------------------

After she's gone, there's nothing she can do for him, and she knows it.She's already decided not to be afraid - that knowing better than anyone else that her tomorrow's are limited grants her the freedom to live. She's lived like that for years.But now she's not just living for herself. Now her death affects someone she cares about.The living can let go - and if they love the dying, I think they should. That doesn't mean they can't grieve, or that they have to forget - it just means that they have to live, as they wish their love(s) could have lived.Arlen understands that, it would seem. That doesn't mean it hurts him any less, though. And I'm not going to say that the effect of this on Rikk or Alisin won't affect him, her, or their relationship poorly. None of them are above mistakes, possibly even of a well-intentioned nature.Will Rikk flee or will Alisin try to push him away, knowing that there is someone who would care for him after she was gone? And how would knowing that affect Rumy? (It might make her a better story-teller, but I don't think she'd think it worth the price.)

The new storyline is really off to quite a start. I'm very glad to be seeing Clara and Arlen again. Part of what attracted me to Faans in the first place (back when it was printed on dead trees) was its connectedness with the genre of science fiction as a whole. The last few stories were great, but seemed to drift a bit from the original premise; we haven't really seen much of fandom (outside of the club) probably since LtA. It's good to see the comic getting back to its roots.

Who has died since the story began (Well, in the primary reality, that is...)? A few of the image-aliens... the Count... maybe of few of the FIB agents during the Club's rescue mission at the HQ... Sully and Miller faked their deaths... Hmm... am I forgetting someone?

I feel so unloved. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">Anyway, it's now late enough that I was able to read the comic for 2/6. Nice to see Clara's keeping a sense of humor about the situation.BTW Roscoe, sorry to hear about your aunt. It really bites man. My family and I lost our cat Murphy over the holidays. I know it doesn't seem like much of a comparison, but losing a family member hurts no matter who or what they might be.
