OK, so Meighan's apparently decided to hit on Rumy anyway, despite what Kath told her. Of course, she doesn't seem too serious about it, and may have just been teasing. Still, the 'forget him, try me' approach doesn't work if there's no interest to begin with, regardless of gender or sexuality issues.
Had it been someone other than Rumy, it might have gotten at least a chuckle... perhaps more if it was Alisin (assuming that she ever broke up with Rikk, which seems unlikely at this stage). But Rumy is... well, Rumy. She has no real sense of humor about that sort of thing. She's been hurt over and over again, and is still to naive to realize that she isn't being singled out somehow. This kind of thing will only reminder her of everything that's gone wrong.

Like I mentioned <a href="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/Forum16 ... sewhere, I think Meighan's just trying to give her own version of helpful advice for what she sees as a doomed love. I wouldn't be surprised if she's the type to, when a relationship falls apart, do exact what she's proposing that Rumy try. She's just trying to impart some of that "wisdom"... only problem is, Rumy simply doesn't work that way, and is disgusted that Meighan even suggested it.
