Pray forgive my ignorance but I don't recognize this terminology. I assume it refers to something like a false beard or disguise like from Life of Brian to allow the women to attend inappropiate activities, but I worry that I'm missing some neat subtext

This is one of those reasons why I love this comic. Who else would use the term 'beard' as an escort knowingly helping a member of her own gender deny her <B>heterosexuality</B>?<P>Technically speaking, Kath has already been Shanna's 'fan beard.'
