I thought Salon was about to go belly up, but I heard that the Venture Capital Fairy showed up and gave them a sackful of cash!
Anyhoo, does anyone have anything to say about this?
This IS the place to ask?

There's been a lot of blood and thunder about the print v. web issue. I personally think that the web is a wonderful comic-lovers resource. I read paper comics. I read web comics. I read more web comics than paper comics, but, conversely, I spend more on paper comics than web comics. (Yeah, bad, bad Wish, I know...) Paper lovers don't have anything to worry about.. yet. Web lovers... our days might be numbered unless someone can figure out how to manage the numbers. And that's the big issue for me, personally. I don't worry about paper. The paperless society is much further away than most people think, I believe. Especially with the development of electronic paper coming along so well. That's my take on things. Worry about keeping the web comics alive, not about moving them all to print.
-Wish

Gary Groth is one of a very few people in comics (along with Dave Sim) who really infuriates me. Man sets himself up as an arbiter of all that's proper and quality about comics, then publishes porn on a regular basis.
But let's not get too deep into that, I'm in too good a mood.
I'll just say that I find it astonishing that ANYONE thinks webcomics are a threat to traditional comics when traditional comics are already threatened by SO MANY other factors. I mean, this is like blaming the ozone hole on burping cows...
