I've got the videos!!! I've got Multiplication Rock and Science Rock. Man! What a great series! Threeeeeeee is the magic number... Everything related to American cartoons was better in the 70s and 80s (although there are one or two series out right now that I really like). I saw someone mention the Letter People earlier.. That one kinda scared me. Mr. Teeth was really really frightening. Heck, the whole thing was kinda intimidating. Even so, none of it's scariness keeps the themesong from being stuck in my head as soon as I think of it.
Anyone out there remember an old drawing show for kids that had a space theme? I've forgotten the name of it, but I remember being taught the basics of perspective by a guy drawing endless futuristic skylines out of basic shapes. How about Pinwheel? Was anyone out there lucky enough to have cable back in the day?
-Wish

321 Contact, now there's a show I don't hear about. I remember 3 or 4 seasons of that. from way back when they did the main show out of a greenhouse, then they moved to a basement and got a kid named Paco.
My second fave part of Square One (other than Mathnet) was Mathman. The little Pacman rip off with the football helmet guy. I loved the Glitch. I remember a few where the announcer was doing his introduction "This is the Glitch, he will eat you if..." and the Glitch promptly flew across the screen and ate mathman then wandered away doing his cool mumble. However, there is one musical bit from Square One that stuck with me more than any of the other songs. The Probability song (Ghost of a Chance) where the guy is in the haunted house.
"Walked into a hallway filled with rattlesnakes...."
"Only five are real, 45 are fakes!"
I learned one of my favorite gimmicks from an episode of Mathnet. A guy had a book called "How To Hide Pigeons" and it had a pigeon shaped hole in the pages.
Regretfully I'm not to young to remember Electric Company. I just didn't watch it. I think there was something else on the blessed cable channels. Like City of Gold.
------------------

Man! I used to TAPE Square One! I sure wish I still had some of those episodes... Tom, I remember the song you're talking about! The pizza delivery guy in the haunted house was hillarious! The one my brothers and I used to sing was the tune about hamburgers and sequential numbers done by the Fat Boys. Good stuff!
The Electric Company and 3-2-1 Contact was another favorite. We have a tape of the Bloodhound Gang even to this day (Whenever there's trouble, we're there on the double, we're the Bloodhound Gang!) I could go on all day about old PBS shows that I loved and still miss.. Anyone here remember The Great Space Coaster?
Another one that we used to watch religiously was 'Where in the World is Carmen Sandigeo?' which I always thought of as the most innovative and creative game show of our time. Certainly more intellectually advanced than 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'
-Wish

I remember the Probability Song. It stuck in my head for years, along with the Weird Al song on Square One (it was about patterns). Square One produced some pretty catch songs.
Incognito Misquito was another character from my past. I always foudn him pretty funny, but Inspector Mantis was more clever. I was always disappointed that there was only one Inspector Mantis book.

Man, I missed the Square One thread? &^%$!
"Probability, don't you mess with me..."
"The story you're about to see is a fib..."
Wait a second, "a fib"? FIB? Could Kate Monday and Frank whatever have been FIB agents? Is Agent Jones keeping a calculator on him at all times, ready to be wipped out? Are the omnipresent FIB suits really a sort of light blue shade?
*insert ominous music*
Nicolas
I used to love Three Investigators. Now, I can hardly remember them.
Bellairs wrote a couple of series. I haven't read the "House with a Clock in its Walls" series (I think it's a trilogy), but I've read another series he did featuring a kid and his cranky professor friend. I have a copy of "The Trolley to Yesterday", but the best is probably "The Eyes of the Killer Robot" which, despite its corny title, is really really creepy.
------------------

Yeah. I think the prof had to buy some kind of magic sword cane from a pawn shop and attack the robot with it. The robot was a metal golem and had a human heart to bring it to life, right? Wasn

Yeah I loved Nickelodeon around that time. "You Can't do That on Television" was the show that was on when I first got, and turned on cable for the first time.
I also loved that sci-fi cartoon show with the sun that sank into the ocean, and the guy who had a armwrist that shot a razor disk or something. It drives me nuts that I can not never remember the name. what was it? That show, plus the cartoon Star Trek kicked ass.
[This message has been edited by Doublespeak (edited 05-13-2001).]

*wakes up*
OK! I was waiting for some Nick-raised kids! Viva la Cable!
I have searched far and wide for people who remember Sparticus. It's the only show from my childhood that I couldn't find someone to remember with me! OMG! This is so cool! The pirates and the hover craft and the two kids and the princess and the yellow armadillo-ey guys and the weird songs.
I remember two songs from that show. One from the armadillo things and another from the Pirates. I still remember the tune to the Pirate song but the only words I remember are "Yo ho HO! Yo ho HO!" I so need that on MP3..........
I think there were two seasons of that show on Nick. One where they had to save their sun (which they had a weird name for, like David or Alex) and another where they had to find a block for this shrine because in the previours season they'd used the original block to save the sun.
We sooooo need to find a website on this show.
