I think that's a real CAT cap.
I think he selected CAT because it is a more genralized company. While the winged corn company (sounds like an agricultural wizards' guild) is in the Midwest and John Deere caters specifically to farming (and lawn maintenance); CAT vehicles can be found all across the nation on construction duties in cities and in forests. It's harder to pin a tag on what Will is dressed as this way. He could be a redneck, a trucker, a construction worker or a logger. Any of these titles could fit that costume. Will usually goes for a character with his costumes but here (and when he was at Rushmore) he has gone for the blending in approach. He's made a generic costume to match his environment. In this case, a Midwestern setting. Oh, and there's a chance that using "John Deere" or the winged corn would be lawsuit fodder. CAT is much easier to excuse.
The other thing I noticed about his costume were his shoes. Those tennies don't look very "in character" to me. I wonder if, like Ben Stein, he's sacrificed the perfect image for satisfactory foot comfort.
I agree that Kath seems a bit defensive about the crown. I expected as much of her. She's either defensive because she IS addicted, she doesn't want to be harped on, or honestly didn't want to use it and hopes she won't have to again.
In other news, I think Alisin looks like Agent Honeydew from the Dexter's Laboratory shorts "Dial M for Monkey". I especially like the way she's eyeing Kath in the last frame. She might not be as forgiving as the others since she wasn't WITH them during the Thack crisis. Sure she was there to ogle Rikk's blood but I don't think she understood what was going on.
In the first two frames I think we see some insight as to why Alisin is so bummed. I think she may be going soft for Rikk. She is putting on the show of not caring and being bad because deep down she's being "turned" from her wild ways. This scares her. She doesn't want to go down the light path and die quietly. She wants her hellfire and explosions. Either that or she IS getting tired of him because she's too shallow to feel actual love.
Geeze, OK disclaimer. I do not really think that Alisin is just a good person caught up in an act of a soulless succubus. She could be any number of other examples of humanity so don't feed me to the lions.
------------------

Two things:
1) Will's attempts at moral managing are really really cute. (Yay you! That's the name of a graduation gift book they sell at the bookstore where I work, btw.)
2) Note the hat. I KNOW that 'CAT' stands for Caterpillar, a manufacturer of heavy machinery like bulldozers and such, but it's SO similar to Kat that I have to suggest that Will's still wearing his attatchment to Kathrine on his sleeve.. err.. brim.
3) (Yeah, I know I said two, but I thought of something else) Kath and the crown. Methinks the lady protests too much? Could be..... Of course, I'm sure that the LAST thing she wants to do right now is rehash the 'control' issue with Will, so I can understand her being defensive.
-Wish

I think it's pretty clear that the crown is an issue for Kat, and a bit one. She jumped all over Will with almost no provocation. On one hand, it's encouraging that she seems to, at least on some level, understand that she has a problem. Unfortunately, this is a bad time for it...

Doesn't your spleen quicken with hermeneutical delight at the very thought??? ^_^
Okay, I'm being an evil little sarcastic person. Sorry, Czhorat, I'm not trying to be mean to you. Anyway, I didn't actually think that Will conciously picked out the hat because it said 'Cat.' I just thought it might have been a subconcious impulse. It fits the disguise, but so would a John Deere cap. I'm just saying that, to the unbiased (achem.. unbiased, yeah RIGHT, Wish) observer, there seems to be a possibility that the hat might mean more than one thing. Or it might not mean anything at all. (I'm right! You know I'm right! Admit it! ^_^)
-Wish

1) About Kath's admission of using the Thack crown in order to get in touch with Shanna... it seems to me that Kath really hates the thing and would love to dispose of it once and for all when the whole mess is over.
2) Rikk is running scared and can't show it. Part of the "modern Major-General" mentality is that fear is never an ally. That's part of the reason he wouldn't talk about his wound to Will. Rikk and Will probably understand each other better than they think they do.
3) CAT is much easier to draw than the deer logo of John Deere or that winged ear of corn (I forget the company it stands for, I don't live in the MidWest now). Call it a happy coincidence.
4) If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning, and I'd determine the cleaveage of quartz...whack!

Today's reading comes from the 'Deep Thoughts by <line>John Handy</line> Nodrog Skrap', Chapter 16, vs 10-30
10) Yay, wheriless why iseth Rikk and Alisin be in disguise? 11) And are all the fans be trying to hide, explaining why Kath be in humble robes? 12) And iffeth itteth beeth (whacks the Olde Englishs translator) thus, why doth Rikk fear the might Fib?
13) Tim is truly suffering loss of his material posessions, leading to changes in his personality. 14) He shall recovereth, either back into his formerly slobbish self or else into a wiser man who knows happiness comes from friends, not fancy toys. 15) Also, he shalt be restord when he manages to hack once more into the FIB's computer and discovers their anime porn collection.
16) The FIB are too busy to face the fans, dealing with the lost Shanna. 17) And after Shanna DOES escape, there shall call a call in the night. 18) And it shall go as thus:
19) "We want you to work for FIB. Voluntarily."
20) "HELLO? We're mortal enemies here. We don't get time outs... er, work for each other."
21) "We have reports of your sessions. Especially the one you revealed you bit... itch."
22) -silence-
23) "We could send the tape on to... interested parties."
24) "You wouldn't."
25)-silence-
26) "Oh my.... you would."
27) "All you have to do is be a reporter. Report on your 'friends'. We will have someone in your office pick up your 'articles'."
28) "Wait, what..."
29) -sound of phone being hung up-
30 "He... he would! He'd send that tape to..."

NOTE: The original copy of Deep Thoughts has been badly damaged. It is hoped that we, the Society to Preserve the Theorizings and Teachings of Nodrog, can find another, undamaged copy of this text.
