Hi.
I don't follow movies like I used to, but two upcoming movies seem to be proof that Hollywood is officially braindead.
1) the remake of Westworld with Ahnold in the role Yul Brenner played in the original, which was a parody of his Magnificent Seven role...
2) Showtime, an Eddie Murphy movie that steals from half a dozen of Murphy's previous pictures.
We need some real creativity in our culture! I'm sick of everybody hitting the rewind button! Sheesh!

And I'm working on my movie about three kids who get together to study except are interrupted by kidnappings, the FBI, infidelity, etc.
And the other movie, which is about a hippie girl who goes to work for a corporation originally in protest but whom becomes so ingrained in corporate culture that by the end she breaks up a strike just so that she can leave for Europe on time.
I also wrote a traditional 'love triangle' play except that the object of affection dies and is a lesbian.

Movies have been horrible for a while now, so you aren't missing anything. This is the only year that has seemed promising to me. (Lord of The Rings, Spiderman, Star Wars 2 etc.)
This is a shame, because it is a really amusing comedy with a lot of heart, and I don't think it is inaccessible to American's at all.
My advice to you (actually it seems you have seen it)
...so my advice to all people is to find a subtitled import (almost all of them are) that is compatible with your DVD Player, or maybe find the whole movie on morpheus/kazaa etc. if you have no other choice (I did this, but watching on a screen as big as my hand isn't fun, and I plan to buy the DVD over the Easter break).

Shaolin Soccer was a very neat film. Unfortunately this movie is going to be pretty mutilated by Hollywood, who only bought it for the special effects scenes. (They already changed the name, and are not stopping there). On 2002-03-19 15:26, Vitriol wrote:
Reviews say that Showtime is actually quite good, if totally unoriginal.
Look forward to Shaolin Soccer; it's being released in America in a month or so (under the name Kung-Fu soccer, I think). It's both original AND extremely amusing.

My comment was based on the only two reviews I'd seen of it (in the papers), which both quite liked it.
On the other hand, Rotten Tomato (which collates hundreds of reviews to give an overall % of good reviews) only gave it good, so you're probably right.
Still, just found out Blade 2 is coming out soon, as well, so things can't all be bad. (Yeah, it's a sequel of a film that wasn't all that original in the first place; but DAMN the first one was cool!)

Oh, no, that CAN'T be. I haven't seen ANY trailers, yet, but I sensed this film coming since my revelation in the rest rooms after the "Brady Bunch Movie" came out. Who's in it. I had my own theories, but. . . 'Jinky with it'?!?! Oh my I think I just heard every dead cartoonist in the world turn over in their graves.

I think the Scooby Doo movie looks fun from the trailers. It's completely tossing cannon out the window, but they did that with The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo already.
Besides, Scooby slaps Fred in the trailer. I've been waiting for someone to hit him for years.
I'll go see it, turn my brain off for two hours (or at least set it to "low") and let all the cares of the world slip away as the silliness washes over me and through me.

On a related note, Resident Evil sucks. Hard. There's ten very cool minutes at the beginning and ten kinda cool minutes at the end, but they bookend eighty minutes of boring crap that makes little sense and takes itself too seriously.
Anyone know why the studio thought it a wise idea to remove Romero from the film and replace him with Paul "Mortal Combat" Anderson?

What are you people smoking??? Maybe I could see funny in the way that Manos: The Hands of Fate is funny. Shaolin Soccer is pure MSTie material. Nothing more.On 2002-03-19 17:04, Doublespeak wrote:

Blade 2 is worth your time. It will knock you out of your socks and into your slippers if you're into stylish violence and Wesley Snipes.
And if you're looking for a creepy film to rent this weekend get Session 9. I saw it an hour ago and I'm thinking about not sleeping, it scared me that much. Scary, scary stuff.
I go exploring in lonely old asylums for fun... I may have to take a break from that for awhile.
creepy,

Wow! The writing is so good I HAVE to go see it now... this or Sorority Boys. Why must life be so damn hard??On 2002-03-19 23:10, Komodo wrote:
Having been a long time fan of Scooby-Doo(Hell, I even liked Scrappy-Doo), I was all set to see the movie.
Until I saw the second trailer.
Apparently, Velma utters the line; "Let's get Jinky with it."
Wrong...so...horribly...utterly...wrong.

There is an almost irresistable appeal to Lex Luthor in drag. I haven't quite hit on the right angle to exploit it yet, but I know the spirit of Tim will guide me.On 2002-03-24 14:50, My name is Kenny wrote:
