I knew Rikk would eventually see the parallel between the two women. I kept wondering how long it would be before he woke up and smelled the coffee. I'm eagerly anticipating the results of this storyline.
Yup! Coffee freshed brewed by Timin and Rumy!
One's just an insightful newbie but Rumy, now there's a deeper reason she poured Rikk a cup of Columbian Get-a-clue roast! Hey Rikk, once your cup of wife goes flat, how about asking your waitress for a refill!
Hee hee, I love metaphors. And similies for that matter!
Oh! Nearly forgot to actually comment on the page!
I like how Rikk flashes the ring again just in case you can't figure out who he's talking about.
The first panel distracted me, I kept looking at the sign to the left of the door and thinking "This page of Fans! is brought to you by the letter D. Who happened to be sick and laying around the hospital anyway...."

Maybe... but I get the impression Alisin doesn't want to be saved. When Jones was talking about virgin goddess extract, she was yawning, uninterested.
Currently her approach to life is "live today and don't care about tomorrow". What's gonna happen if she has to face a future? As in, a lifetime with Rikk instead of just 4 years? And kids, and stuff? Is she gonna stop drinking and worrying about her health?

This page might.... or might not, since it's still ambiguous as hell, give some insight into that issue.
And on the last panel I can only say this.
"........"
The look on Rikk's face {Yay! Go Jason!}, those... simple words he said that just had me chilled to the bone {Yay! Go T!}...
Congrats.

I'll sing you one, O
Green grow the rushes, O
Where is your one O?
One is One, and all alone,
And ever more it shall be so.

Um, it doesn't look to me like Rumy knew what was up. You seem to be implying that Rumy's got some machiavellian thing going on - it looks to me like she's holding her jealousy in very well.On 2002-02-27 08:34, Tom the Fanboy wrote:

PS: Did I miss a bit where Tim the Fanboy's name turned out to be Timin? It sounds more like Rumy's got a nickname for him due to their art-related chats...

Rumy lives her life by the narrative, she's built herself around her culture of Manga and one of the key aspects of that is noble self sacrifice. It's almost as good if the object of your affection never learns of your true feelings until it is far too late and you've already sacrificed all you have and are for them, usually in an incredibly suicidale attempt to save the Official love interest/girlfriend/wife etc. I always think of Cyrano de Bergerac as a prime example of this, but only the unhappy ending versions of course.
I don't know if it's so much that Alisin doesn't WANT to be saved, as she's afraid that she can't be saved. When one lives with any chronic illness it's hard to balance a reasonable hope for the future with false optimism. After so many attempts fail to produce anything save more discomfort and misery (and there's no reason to believe that there weren't many such futile attempts in the years following her diagnosis. Her parents, after all, have the money to try all kinds of exotic procedures), she might refuse to show interest in a cure because she doesn't want to have her hopes raised only to be dashed again.
