Symbols

So what's with the symbols in today's (3/2) strip? I admit it, I'm rather thick, but I don't get it. Speaking in runes?

Yup. Call it "Katherine hates chants so she drew something that looked cool and hoped everyone would pick up on it as being a magic spell."

Actually, there's more to it than that. I am using the same symbols for the same spells.
Compare the spells in today's strip to the one Gill says in November 28th's page. One of them is the same symbol.

I figured it was a spell. Either that or he was cussing in a ancient language!
Don't get me wrong, though. I think using symbols for spellcasting is a great idea! It works well.
[This message has been edited by gordon (edited 03-02-2001).]

I think there are rune fonts out there, there was a phonetic one used in the old Ultima series games, that I have seen used elsewhere where runes are called for. It is even functional. I could read and write in it during High School (Needed a life to say the least).
