How do you get your work clean enough to flood fill? and what program do you use?
Also I'm gonna send you a pic for reference as to how I'd prefer to appear in a guest strip Lotsa fun! I'd put it up on the web 'cept my ftp access sux too.
[This message has been edited by FAULT (edited 01-24-2002).]

Well, up until the storyline on Golem Island, I pencilled the strips in blue pencil, inked 'em, and then scanned 'em as pure black-&-white 2-colour images at 600 dpi. (I did it at such a high dpi so that I could preserve the detail, despite the scan being two-colour). I flood-filled by using the wand tool on an area, expanding the selection by a pixel or two, and then flooding a layer below with the colour, so it didn't spoil any of the line-art.
Nowadays I don't ink, actually. I just get a big brush and paint the colour in under the line-art. And if I flood-fill, I just use the lasso tool to define an area to fill.
You do know about the 'Multiply' blending mode, right? Surprisingly few people do...
------------------

Cool. I actually -don't- know about multiply.
I usually scan in grayscale. I think the messy pencil-ness suits me. The only problem is when I wanna do colour. Preserving all those minute shades of gray gets in the way of floodfill. Then again I could just colour for real, and scan in colour.
Also, you talk about layers, how do I get layers? What program are you using?

I use Photoshop, personally, but I know that Paintshop Pro 5 or later, and the GIMP, also have layers.
http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial/cgmain.html -- I refer you to Julie Dillon's ever-lovely guide to colouring (in Photoshop), which you will hopefully be able to follow pretty easy.
