Shihad need a new name

Postby ZOMBIE USER 4630 on Thu Dec 27, 2001 5:28 am

Today's Spike (Sydney Morning Herald, Fri 28 Dec 2001, p. 20) has an item on Shihad. Apparently they're looking for a new name to placate their US record label, which fears they won't get airplay under their current tag.
Howls of derisive laughter, Bruce. The music business really is full of people who couldn't find their arses with both hands. Next up, Stella One Eleven get sued by General Dynamics for trademark infringement. (joke ;-)

Deary me, their name sounds a bit like 'jihad', they'll never get any American airplay now!
...
They never did get any American airplay, and they never will; they're too good. So the label should shut it's fucking mouth.
Hmm, that followup to the General Electric is taking its time...
------------------

hurmph, yeah it probably won't get much airplay in the states. However, a lot of money is there for the taking if they do, and all artists, no matter how good, want money.

I'm sorry to say I've not heard of this good band. Have they a website?
------------------

http://www.shihad.com/
That's the one.
If you're a taker of mp3s, I strongly recommend 'La La Land', 'Wait And See', 'Life in Cars', and, if you want to know what they were singing in the Ribo-anniversary strip, 'Brightest Star'. But basically The General Electric should be bought, as it is full of goodness. I don't know what the self-titled album is like...
------------------

I read in this week's Drum Media that Shihad have thought of a new name, but it's trademarked all over the world by another band.

Tell her I said "hi!" next time you see them.

So Shihad spat the dummy and called themselves: Pacifier.
Or so I read in the street press this week.

Yeah, that's what I read... shame they didn't rename themselves 'The Holy War On America'.

I hope they still go by 'Shihad' down here, I mean, Josh Abrahams goes by the name 'Puretone' in the UK, but we don't call him that here...
