Comic swordfighting tournament recruiting

Post by Brockway »

Well, I'm coming up on a tournament in my comic, and I figured I might as well ask if any people want to lend me their characters! Its gonna basically be a sword fighting tournament. While the final outcome is already decided (since its an opening to the next story arc, I sorta need a certain character to win) I figured it would be neat if other people wanted to have their characters featured as fighters. You will get a prominant link below the comics your characters are featured in, and probably some cool fanart sketches of your characters. Its not gonna be huge, probably at the very most 14 people, more likely 10-ish (at least 4 of mine will be in it.) The characters will need to be sword (or close sword derivative) users, fairly human (elves or similar characters could pass) but I guess robots or cyborgs would work since its set in the future (fusion reactors and such are commonplace, but not prominant). So... any takers?

Hey sure!

Feel free to take anyone from Pimpette if you like em... Pimpette's sort of used a sword before in fighting a dragon, if it matters :)
And Turkish.. well, if you piss him off, he's got built-in swords, but I don't think that's what you're looking for, heh.
(see comics starting from http://pimpette.keenspace.com/d/20031222.html for details)

So again, pick anyone you like, if any of them interest you, and lemme know
I wouldn't miss seeing it! :D

You can use my character Rosemary Ripley if you wish to, although she's not terribly used to sword-fighting other humans.

Sweet, 2 already! I'll refresh my memory in both your archives (I'm actually fairly familiar with your comic Geoduck, since I visited you from the now inside joke that is the YDK Spacers dropdown.) I'll have to adapt them a bit to my drawing style, and give you all some pics to see what you guys (or girls) think.

So his weapon of choice is those neat hook blade things? Oh yeah, I promise not to kill off your characters! Its not a fight to the death thing, medical technology is way advanced, so its pretty much no holds barred.

Ooh, you can use Galad, if you want. He normally uses a generic sword, but if you want to have him use the one from the store window...

(An early drawing of said sword is at: http://feyenne.keenspace.com/d/20030711.html)

Oooh... yeah!!! I'm gonna do some practice sketches tonight to post so I can get some feedback from all of you on adapting them to my drawing style. And wow, that is one complex looking sword... but I'll see if I can make it work!

Umm, you could always give Indiana Jones a well-deserved tribute, borrow Jeff, and have him get disqualified for just shooting somebody. (I'd post a picture of him but I'm still working on getting all my old pictures off my crashed computer, he hasn't had a decent-looking face shot in ages... might try the Characters page)

I want to be able to make the characters look like they actually belong in the comic, and I don't think I'd be able to get Waterguy to work. Plus he's an unstoppable superhero. It'd be almost like dumping War in there, it wouldn't be pretty. Its just a little unfair to the human characters. And don't get me started on Woman Man... wait, actually... hmmm, maybe on him... Or did you have other characters you have hidden somewhere?
The Indiana Jones-esque idea would be pretty funny, but now the suprise the suprise is ruined...

Bwahaha... my characters are superpowerful! Um... and no other humanoids outside of Woman Man, but what's wrong with him/her? Are you sexist now?!?

Maybe on woman man... would you have a problem if I made him look a bit more girly, and had the whole man thing be a punchline somehow?
