this dropdown has lost all meaning. nobody likes pop and former mainstream stuff anymore. if anything its becoming mainstream to be against the mainstream.

I'm not sure how to take that statement. However, it is flawed. The dropdown retains its meaning (I'll touch on that later), apparently people still do like pop and the "former" mainstream because it is still selling magazines and CD's, and if being against mainstream is now mainstream - why am I still shunned by 9 out of 10 people on the street?

I understand that mainstream ure is trying to shift it boundaries again. It happens regularly. All that then happens is that the outskirts are pushed farther and farther away from the social norm - they don't become the norm. That is why they are the outskirts; they are the extremes and intend to stay that way.

That is what I am trying for with this dropdown. The people who join, I hope, are ones who recognize the direction of mainstream ure and continue to press on to form new ideas and new horizons that still remain outside the norm. That is how it retains its meaning.

I hope I didn't sound preachy or aggressive. My intent was to debate a point - not start a war. This is just one of those topics that I take personally.

I know what you mean. :P I love to debate.

I live in Idaho so we have a major gap between the lunatic fringe and the mainstream culture. The majority of the people here are hicks, conservatives or just morons. Its true of many of the places I have travelled, though. In larger cities people are just more used to seeing a guy in a dress and the like.

I love your username. I remember the good old days of Toxic Avenger, I even had a couple of the collectable figures.

Werd.

I've had a webcomic for ages but haven't really been able to do much on it until now (Personal reasons, man). Redesigning and organzing a decent update schedule are two of the many things I have gotten around to doing.

I've also realized that I'm missing a dropdown! Shock! Horror! And I came here and I spotted yours. I've visited the majority of the webcomics on it and I dig.

I would be ubergrateful if you'd let me join your hallowed halls of "SLKS". It would make my day/night/whatever.

My comic isn't much yet, but it will be.

Cheers!

Okay. I am adding you the next time I update, on Friday. If I don't remember pester my email.

What Friends are For is getting kicked because the dropdown doesn't appear anywhere on their page. I'm a bad person, I know.

Dragons are generally outcast, and the author is a literal hermit. :)

Nice dropdown. I'd say my comic fairly easily fits the requirments. The main charcaters are a very confused bisexual goth/punk/geek girl, a transvestite D&D nerd, and assorted other "freaks" living in a very rural area. I'd love for you to add me to the list.

Yo, you could hook me up, I think...

My site's about a bunch of neurotic 20-something losers with superpowers in a semi-futuristic megalopolis. But they're really not into the whole superhero thang, they just go around and whine on current events and pop culture and stuff.

I'll be putting in my banner in my next update (sometime this week, I hope)

my comic might fit here, as it sort of focuses on subculture. though the characters are still being introduced.. it might fit the mold.

Social outcasts?

Sounds like my bunch. Although we're an older generation of misanthropes. 28-38 with slacker jobs instead of careers, no families, contempt for fast fashion, distrust of the guv'ment, and an afinity for drugs, electronics, games, and animation.

Might be the first place I'd feel welcome. :P

May I please join? I'm pretty sure mine fits: an overstressed dork, a schizophrenic artist, and someone who may or may not be a clone are my three main characters. Plus the kiwi thing.

Um... hi.

Pretty sure "Et-cetera" would fit into this category... but we'll see.

Comic: Et-cetera
URL: etc.keenspace.com

Lemme know if/when it is added, and I will add the dropdown then.
