Is the dropdown dropdown anywhere on the dropdown dropdown website? If not, shouldn't it be?

Is there a list of the dropdowns in the dropdown anywhere but in the dropdown itself? I thought I remembered there being a dropdown dropdown directory, that showed all the dropdowns.

KeenElven is not a zombie, the contact info is still perfectly good, it updates regularly, and I'm kind of not sure why it was listed as a zombie at all, if I'm reading the list correctly. However, you should update the link to http://theelven.com/keenelven/

Also, apparently keenime is dead?

There is a link called "dropdowns" that lists all dropdowns. the dropdown dropdown is on that page its the last one.

When I started the list I called anything that had no activity in the last six months, Zombies. And I change sites that have been adding new stuff, when I see them getting active. I'll update the keeneleven stuff for the next update. Which I usually do once a month depending if there's anything to add.

And Keeime is not taking anymore applicants, so its a zombie.. thats what zombie means.

I didn't mean no applicants, I meant not showing up on pages anymore.

No, it doesn't even show up on gear. Actually Keenime's dead, I'm going to try to revive it.

sounds good to me.. and good luck with that. lots of manga/anime styled comics. once you get started let me know and I'll throw it back up on the list.

And finally I've update the dropdown dropdown directory again. this time around Keenelven has been put back into active, and Keenblade is now listed.

I'm actually working on a few new things to put up on the site, and hopefully I can get to them soonish, I got an idea for a new dropdown script to do, its mostly just putting up the tutorial so anyone can use it... but first I really want to get up the faq...

so please any commonly asked questions.. things that have thrown you for a loop.. or whatever feel free to post them here to be added so I can get some questions and put it together.

finally I've changed the whole zombie method from here on out. When I started it.. it was simple to just look at what hadn't had a post in about six months, but now that its actually up to date (well kinda) I figure its time to change that..

so from here on out, if someone posts to a forum thread and isn't added/replied to or given some indication you are watching them.. in a three month span your dropdown will go into "zombie" mode. this is always reversable (tis why there is a zombie selection)

at any rate.. updated and post faq questions for me!

The dropdown is working on my site but how many of the comics were deleted off the list? I don't remember the list being so short, and the fact I'm no longer on the list. Did you want us to sign up again?

well I've never deleted listing, unless there is no where to link it to. (a thread or homepage). But that hasn't been the case since I started the thing.

However you might have been missed in the translation somewhere. So if you could link me where I can get the info I'll be glad to add you--preferably a link to your thread

As to the list (including all the inactive ones that are in the zombie section) I've added every single one I could get my hands on from the two previous sites and the forums. There are currently 20 active and 24 zombies

again sorry if I missed you... and thats a great faq question! w00t!

Can you add in GLBT Space???

The signup thread is here:

viewtopic.php?t=63792

There are two scripts with different images:

<script language="javascript" SRC="http://togizoushi.keenspace.com/dropGLBT1.js"></SCRIPT>

<script language="javascript" SRC="http://togizoushi.keenspace.com/dropGLBT2.js"></SCRIPT>

The second one seems to be more popular.

It will be added when i next update. along with the rest of the new ones that have started since my last update. I'll be doing it next week sometime if all goes according to plan. But it will be added..

thanks for the reminder.

in other news there are a few faq questions I've gotten

- what is a dropdown
-How do I make a dropdown
-how do I get people to join my dropdown.

any other questions people have or what not post on this thread as I would like to finally get the faq page up and going.

"How many is too many?" or alternately, "Is there a Dropdown Anonymous I could join?"

I get the greatest number of referrals from dropdowns that I've joined, and this of course makes me want to join even more dropdowns! Than I start to worry that maybe I'm joining too many, and people will think I am greedy. Then I view my stats again and squeel with glee at the number of referrals I got, and thus, the cycle begins anew.

Some dropdowns like KeenElven have rotating banners up at the top. Can you give examples and an explanation of the coding for this?

Okay, so this would probably be more for the tutorial section than the faq...

Meep the Greek wrote:"How many is too many?" or alternately, "Is there a Dropdown Anonymous I could join?"
thanks for the questions Meep.. and here are the answers now and I'll put them on the faq as well.

"How many is too many?
for the how many rule it sort of works like this. if you go to the dropdown directory link you'll see it takes a bit of time to load... this is because when a webpage loads it has to seek out each script for each dropdown find it and then address the JS. this causes pages to stall and take a while to load as it has to do a lot of stuff before it gets done. we've had conversations about this before on the forums and the general population say 3 or 4 is the max any site should have.

there are ways of course to fix this. One of the easy ways to make your page load faster and not wait on the js find and assemble is to put all your dropdowns in an iframe.

on a side note, I'm working on something that will work better for the dropdown directory and putting up the dropdowns. one of the things I've been concidering is hosting them all locally of course that would cause me to have to keep them update more.. but its work in progress.
s there a Dropdown Anonymous I could join?

currently there is not one. there use to be one back in the day and the name escapes me at present. I'm kinda of against this... just cause the functionality of dropdowns is so that someone can find comics like the one they are reading. but I'd not stop someone from making one if they wanted to.
Pillywiggin wrote: Some dropdowns like KeenElven have rotating banners up at the top. Can you give examples and an explanation of the coding for this?
i've had this question before. and it is something I want to do at some point. that is give other options. There's a few scripts I want to explain for people, that are out there.. but being the lazy one I am, I'd rather use the scripts already designed (specially since I'm not the most stellar at Javascript myself.) so part one would be to get the okays... some I'm thinking about tutorialing at some point if its okay is...

-The list structure varient used on kleenspace
-The banner/ list randomizer used on keeneleven
-the banner exchanger used on WEE!

and yes I know this isn't really an answer... but the answer is no, there is no tutorial for the diffrent dropdown scripts yet. but it is something i want to do. but only if these varient script authors want to have thier code accessable and used by other dropdown administrators.

Sorry this update turned out to be a long wait. but the wait was well earned if I do say so myself. Other than adding Netherworld, Keencombat, and GLBTspace, also the FAQ page has finally been created, as well as a new script template... Randomizing dropdown by Pillywiggin.

Update!

Keen At Work, Keenheroines, and KeenAI have been shifted in zombie mode. Remember like always, let us know you are still adding people and we'll be happy to put you back up to the land of the living. For refrence we usually will call dropdowns zombies, when the last response from the admin of the dropdown has not posted in four months and there are people who have requested to be added and have not gotten a response.

We have also ADDED The Grey Area to the directory. I'd also like to point out I'll be gone for a little while so the directory won't be getting updated for a little bit. I'll be back soon.. but if your wondering why thats the reason-- also why I'm doing another update so soon after the last one.
