4. Natural Born Killers - I wrestled this one and Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs, but ultimately the best Tarantino movie is the one he didn't direct about the medias execellarating the incline to be what we are- homicidal maniacs.

I don't think this counts as a Tarantino movie. Stone destroyed Tarantino's story arc by rearanging the script and removing the courtroom scenes. The point of media's influence on society's violence remained intact, but the character development suffered as a result. A great movie, but not as great as it could have been.

You all do your lists wrong.
25. Almost Famous - a newbie, perhaps, but simply watch Cameron Crowes personal tale and you get a warm squishy feeling in the pit of your stomach unrelated to the pack of Resse's Peanut Butter Cups you ate.
24. Three Kings - Is it war movie without the war? A comedy with the darkest edge? Satire or honesty? Maybe it's just a damn good movie.
23. The Shining - Arguably the best horror/slasher film ever made. Magnificently paced and perfectly acted for the most part, this almost falls under comedy because you can't help but laugh through your horror.
22. Being John Malkovich - " This raises so many questions!" Haha, but what the movie boils down to is some people are just going to always want to be somebody else and will always be lonely, and some people will grow the fuck up and be happy with themselves.
21. Election - A sharp satire on the major political fields today, a movie that says so much about so many things, without ever out and out saying it, thus absolving itself of the evil government trying to censor it (seen Cradle Will Rock? Know that it's a true story?)
20. Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Masters of Silliness, keepers of the magestic 'what are they talking about', Monty Python held it's ground on my list. Nothing could knock it off, and nothing ever will.
19. Godfather Part I- I don't need to explain this one.
18. High Fidelity - I don't want to say that this was the 18th best crafted film I've ever seen, but Rob Gordon could be Rob Master, and probably Dexter and... all your other names, and maybe even Glych. This movie about lists deserved to make mine.
19. LA Confidential - A detective story about redemption and honor, plus it had Russel Crowe before everyone started blowing him. Great cinema.
18. Raging Bull - " I'm the boss, I'm the boss, I'm the boss," Jake Lamotta says, as he faces opponents that aren't there, demons who will haunt him becuase he is who he is. Scorcesse and DeNiro's THIRD best pairing, DeNiro's second best role.
17. A Clockwork Orange - A little hard to explain why this makes the list for me cause I've only seen it thrice, but it stayed with me explicitly from 1995 til I saw it again in 2000. Thats power for you.
16. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - A send up of James Bond, cool effects even for now for the most part, and the Indie becomes a Knight. isn't it great?
15. Rushmore - " Yeah, I was in the shit." The smartest, and funniest movie of 1998. " These are O.R." scrubs." " Oh, are they?"
14. Edward Scissorhands - Tim Burtons best, and most personal work. Some give it to Ed Wood, but I know this is Tim Burtons best shining ground. If he let all his movies have this much depth, he'd be the best director ever.
13. Magnolia - How many stories about what? What is this movie about. Watch this 3 hours and 15 minute film repeatedly for all the answers, because they are all there. Or just watch it for Tom Cruise saying " Respect the cock. And...... TAME..... THE CUNT!"
12. Truman Show - *Cough*cough*survivr*cough*. SMart enough to see it coming what is. Plus, Carey deserved an Oscar.
11. Saving Private Ryan - As I saw it, 1998 these movies were warring for best picture. Then Shakespeare in Live won....

Anyway, this war epic captures the ideals that America strives for, even though it somewhat misses the truth of the situation- by making them German soldiers faceless, we deny them the ability to show us they were just scared boys like us and not inhuman monsters. Still, for what it's worth, it's worth alot.
10. South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut - And here's the movie that mocks that previous one, and alot of other movies and the ratings board, and anyone else who deserved it as it goes along. The harshest and funniest movie ever.
9. Taxi Driver - The lone psycho drives around, watching, processing information, letting his own loneliness and madness consume him. The best Deniro perfromance, period.
8. The Big Lebowski - The Dude abides, maybe not the funniest film, but the most easily watched movie I have ever had the pleasure of owning. I can literally pop this movie in whenever. I can't say that about any of the other son the list.
7. Se7en - Harsh and smart, but harsh, oh so harsh. We are all guilty and we tolerate and Morgan Freman with alot of help from Brad Pitt and some special help from a special actor shows us maybe the world is a shitty place but worth fighting for.
6. Goodfellas - The best Deniro Scorcesse pairing, though not strictly his(Deniros) film. I don't need to explain this one either. If you've seen it, you know.
5. Do the Right Thing - Do you?
4. Natural Born Killers - I wrestled this one and Pulp Fiction, and Reservoir Dogs, but ultimately the best Tarantino movie is the one he didn't direct about the medias execellarating the incline to be what we are- homicidal maniacs.
3. Chasing Amy - Works on three levels- direct commentary on relationships in the modern days, a great story, and finally, the most honest feeling movie I've ever seen.
2. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Nicholsons best, this film says something about society, and maybe more than a little about ourselves.
1. Fight Club - It's a comedy. It's a satire. It's a drama. It's a deconstuctive peice. It's anti violence. It is violent. It's about a psycho. It's about us.
------------------

And I am OK.
But I work all night
And I sleep all day
So I will never be in Monty Python
