#783 seems a bit stodgy. Why not?

803. If my personal carried firepower exceeds that of the Battleship Texas, there's a problem.

Maybe for you......*haughty sniff

808. Covering fire does not include nuclear weapons.

Since when?!

894. I can't just keeping buy rounds of drinks until everybody passes out so I can rob them.

Sounds like a legimate strategy to me.

There's an easy way to discourage this - make it cost ineffective. (That many drinks costs more than you'll find on them.)

Besides, the tavern staff won't be joining them.

Y'know, that's actually an option in the computer version of Temple of Elemental Evil... join the drinking contest and you get to loot everybody who drank themselves under the table before your leader passed out himself.

I just don't get why entering meant my paladin had transgressed. Who says a LG can't tie one on, especially if he's doing it because the party desperately needs the cash that goes to the winner?

Mostly because not everyone likes that bad a pun in the character name. I mean, "Mortal Wombat"? "Dalai Llama"? "Boom Orang"?

Trust me on this one.;)

That would be because Gygax based the ideas of Cleric and Paladin mostly (and heavily) on legends of great Christian clerics and paladins. Since that would mean the paladin effectively has a vow of Temperance, entering a drinking contest is right out.

When the Solidus Corp. takes over, this DM shall be barred from practicing his trade. Honestly, firepower is never a bad thing... unless it's pointed at you, and the enemy has his finger on the button. That's when you pray for good air support.

Hmm... I think that nuclear platform is in orbit... I need to check before we invade Russia...

Ditto!

Oooo, I want to add things to this list...

926. No substituting Catapult Rocks for "Bags o' Flaming Cats", despite the word Cat being in the name.

927. Fireball spells are not for lighting candles.

928. Never tempt Paladins to evil by saying "C'mooon... C'mooooooon..."

929. No introducing the Elven Wizard as "The guy in the dress".

930. No calling the Cleaning Cloth for a Magical Stave a "Wand Massager"

C'mon everyone, you can think up more. I know I can!

As a former DM, I shall never, ever, ever, ever hand out a Cursed Ring of Blondeness (-4 Dexterity, -4 Intelligence) to any bard ever again.

I can think of worse. Like the spell Speak with Bread. "Lo, partake of my whole wheat wisdom!"

"Speak with Bread"?

You mean that isn't a slangy version of "Money Talks"? :)
