Kinda sad for us - our daughter is spending her first Christmas away from home in Japan.

She is spending it with a family of a friend of hers we had stay with us last year who was going to school in the US. Their idea of Christmas is Kentucky Fried Chicken (she said you have to order it weeks in advance as this is a nationwide thing - KFC somehow sold the Japanese this is an American Christmas tradition!).

And a Christmas cake - another American tradition nobody in the US ever heard of.

Well, a fruitcake is a Christmas cake, nie? So that's not -that- far off. KFC had a brilliant ploy, though, if they sold that.
