Watching Ben and Lily together was like watching the future that Aili and I were denied.

It certainly looks like a big eraser is hanging overhead - I sure hope that they are still married when this is over.
But thinking back to the transition from ULT to GH, with Ben waking up in bed not remembering he was married, we have a dangerous potential point in time for a retcon to take place.
Then again, if this has all been a dream and they're still engaged, at least not everything will have been lost.

If that happens, if they are broken up, I won't be able to follow the story any longer.
It will hurt far too much.
Funny, to have such an emotional investment in a pair of fictional characters.
Yet I remember how much I'd laugh over some strips, and I think "I have to tell Aili about this one." Then I remember, she's gone.
It's like missing an arm - you keep expecting that there's something more than just the stump.
Love sucks.
I'm sorry, RH. If you break up Ben and Lily, I won't be able to continue with this strip. I'll keep reading the others, but if you do break them up, reading this strip will devolve into an exercise of masochism on my part. And I can't take that pain any more.

Could be worse, he could find Bobby Ewing in his shower.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Of course, Ben could say "Fine, my life is a bit odd, but I am fine with erratic life, thank you so you can be on your way Mr. Rubbermaid Otter."

You know, all those things he listed as so very unbelievable and off track...
I didn't have a problem with any of them. It all just seemed to fit to me...

From listening in to RH's discussions on the changes he might make, I haven't heard anything about changing Ben+Lily, so I believe that's safe. For the most part what's being discussed is mostly changing the nature of the posse, from "physical manifestations" (tulpas) to something less supernatural. Hint: take a look at the name of the comic.

awww, gee! I really like it as is! It takes a lot of creativity to get something that far fetched to work so well.

RE: Comic strip character?
The Tulpas will build a Mecha-Ben. Each part can fight separately, but they can join together to form the ultimate fighting machine.

Personally, I liked the original strip better, back when it was "Under the Lemon Tree" and before the whole big jump forward to "Goblin Hollow"... I dunno, the whole mood of the comic seems to have changed a lot, somehow.
At least this time, we have a heads-up before the big change.
...I wonder what will happen...

So, (guessing here...) they're not real, they're just in Ben's mind, neither Lilly nor anyone else can ever or ever has seen them.BrockthePaine wrote:From listening in to RH's discussions on the changes he might make, I haven't heard anything about changing Ben+Lily, so I believe that's safe. Hm... There's a *LOT* of stuff in this comic that is firmly anchored in the idea that they have real existance. His making Lilly's grandfather back down, etc. So much of the really good stuff will have to be re-classified as "didn't happen at all", or "didn't happen nearly that way" that ... hm... I don't know... it would sure be a huge change in the nature of the strip.
But then again... Lily *did* see Sheldon in the waiting room, a Sheldon who was apparantly riding along on Ben's little trip...

Guys, I just got to see a super-secret
drawing of the retconned posse, and having been told a bit of info as to what Ralph plans, I don't think we have much to worry about. I'm gonna keep my big trap closed for now, but the Posse is still very real - more real than before, in fact. I *suspect* that we'll have a nice flashback somewhere in the Zone of the Fourth Wall, so if you see Ben and Lily before they get together, **DON'T PANIC** and remember that you still have your towel with you. If you don't... (Brock passes out towels to everyone who didn't get the joke).
