since it seems that the exploration of the town is moving on and soon (maybe within the next day or so) we may be skippping on to morning, I wanted you guys to be ready for what I plan for Jake in the morning.

first I plan him to be already equipped,

secondly I plan for him to have a trade contract to show the council that would allow his family to send occasional trade caravans into the town.

umm, I think that's pretty much it for now.

oh, and the insides of his home will be empty.

Would there be Bibles in this library? and for that matter....is there movable type? Like a Gutenberg Bible? I want one that I could carry around in a pouch. I like libraries. They're comfy,

Yes, there are bibles. But why would you need moveable type when you have magic? ;)

Cheap, easy, and fast mass printing on a large scale. :P :)

The real question is if the printing press has been invented in the scope of this environment.
...
In my mind the order would keep copies of the works of the prophets that they have been able to record.
They would also tend to be as a group literate.

I think that they would find utility in having a collection of prophetic writings that they could have copies of individually.

For practical purposes, we could call the volume they have a Bible.

Of course, it may also be written in some form of ancient script not known to scholars outside of the order as well.. something they might call reformed egyptian or perhaps adamic.

On the other paw, if bibles are a commodity item, they may have a fiew laying around.

As for the moveable type..
Moveable Type would not be nessary for a volume that you
1) are not going to be editing
2) are going to be printing in volume.
The bible would fit both of those criteria. Infact, if I were a bible publisher, I would have fixed plates for all of the sheets and would just keep using them.

Instead you would have a storehouse of wooden press plates. :P

Anyway, the spell John is using is a perminate Comprehend Languages. Yes it's possible. I did my homework.

"I use my perminate Comprehend Languages. What do I read?" :D

Oh, see.....I did not understand that you were casting a spell which allowed to read it. Its find that you did so, but I did not understand.

Gah! What I ment to say was that he is using a perminate Comprehend Languages that he already casted on himself at an earlier time.

Would Deac have heard of one?

*shrugs* Maby.

Comprehend Languages
Divination
Level: Brd 1, Clr 1, Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 10 min./level
You can understand the spoken words of creatures or read otherwise incomprehensible written messages. In either case, you must touch the creature or the writing. The ability to read does not necessarily impart insight into the material, merely its literal meaning. The spell enables you to understand or read an unknown language, not speak or write it.
Written material can be read at the rate of one page (250 words) per minute. Magical writing cannot be read, though the spell reveals that it is magical. This spell can be foiled by certain warding magic (such as the secret page and illusory script spells). It does not decipher codes or reveal messages concealed in otherwise normal text.
Comprehend languages can be made permanent with a permanency spell.
Arcane Material Component: A pinch of soot and a few grains of salt.

Nope. No one in the group has.

Why, whatever do you mean? Of course everybody in the group has heard of old Baron Dynar. Unfortunately, Disintegrate is virtually certain to be useless... a freeform game goes by narrative, and it'd just ruin the drama if the vamp lord was dusted during his grand appearance.

Sorry, fusion. Mjolnir got it right. I was refering to the vamp lord thing.

Sure, we have heard of Dynar, but uber-vamp lords? Thats another thing. Somehow....I don't think that one (not exactly) simple will do it. Especially knowing our beloved DM. :D

Whee, what week I've had.
Two buisness seminars and a Graduation attended. 800 miles on the vehicle, two new tires, and the last week of school. Whee!

Heh, I'm wondering what sort of armor Will has..
My thoughts were along the lines of a leather covered steel for its physical construction. Perhaps some sort of cured lizard skin, or perhaps just suede. covered scale mail.
The idea is to have a thin layer of leather between the metal peices so they don't clank ( as much ).

It would be fun if it had some sort of extra enhancement, but it could just as easily just have historical significance to the order.

Hmm ...

I think I'll be a nice guy (just the once) and say that Will's "hunting" armor is made out of Green Dragon scales & leather. They have enough of a variation that they're decent camo, but they also are silent when moving and provide a decent armor class.

Of course, you may need to edit your most recent post, but I don't think you ming, do you Cap? :D
