Yes, Will can definatly make mail. So can several of the other villagers. Though, it would probably be fitted from some already on hand rather than new made.
We could probably have one of the clerics from the village along as well..
Every boy in the order over 12 or so would probably have some training in both combat and clerical skills, though the results would vary according to the individual
There would likely be a villager more specialised in healing that Will that might be willing to go. Though it would be fun to have it an actual PC..

I'm wondering about which armor Will should bring..
Should he bring his everyday armor, or his sunday go to meeting armor, or perhaps his scouting armor..

Me, I'd like to have the armor leather lined.. ( so as to cut down on the clinking ) but either way, going in with the shiny go to meeting armor would be noticed ( from orbit possibly )

I believe the mission is to go from one town of civilization to another and that once there they can stock up on 'more difficult to move' supplies. that way any lighter armor worn will go unnoticed by the locals and they will draw less attention to themselves.

personally I think there's going to be a lot more 'questions and investigations' then there is going to be of actual fighting.
I still say the doctor did it....

Yeah, but by all means be prepared for the worst. Stakes and scrolls are easy to bring along and might arouse suspicion if we buy them in the Baron's own fiefdom. Besides, how can one gear up for recon and detective work? Without spending more than a simple village would make in a couple decades, I mean.

"I'll take a Medallion of Thoughts (12k gold, allows you to read the thoughts of others), a Cloak of Charisma +6 (36k gold) and maybe a luckstone (20k, +1 on skill checks/saving throws), if you've got it. And while you're at it, make a few rings or circlets or something with Mind Blank on them. (very high level spell that makes the target immune to mind-effecting spells, including all forms of mind reading)."

Funny you should ask; Red Mage developed prestige classes precisely so he could reduce Fighter and BM to the lists of statistics he understands so well. You can see his 'BM class' here.

I think that everlighting tourches are kinda, well, cheating almost. Rather like a bag of holding.

And that is probably not a correct translation. But its closest I could figure.

Uh....no? Sorry, I don't know what that means. I had to go online to translate what I did.

I have no idea what you're talking about... Continual Flame is a very basic spell for a wizard or sorcerer, and only marginally harder for a cleric. If you feel like it, you can have it cast on your helmet . How is casting it on a torch unfair? It doesn't illuminate any better than a normal one, and you're paying either a spell slot for the day and 50 gold (or almost 110 gold if you buy one instead of making it) for the convenience of it never burning itself out or consuming oxygen. A single everburning torch costs as much one million, one hundred thousand normal ones. I can guarantee you that even with the added cost of a flint and steel (1000 torches' worth of money right there), you would never burn that many torches out.

As for the bag of holding-how do you plan to waltz into a dungeon with almost 100 pounds of equipment and come back out with almost double that in loot? Most low-strength characters can barely manage to carry their own necessities without becoming encumbered. Take an 8 strength wizard: he can only carry 26 pounds, and his spell book and component pouch take 5 off the top. You want a light crossbow and 50 bolts, so you won't find yourself useless during a long quest far from society and resupply points? That'll be 9 pounds. A bedroll so you can sleep more easily (sleepness nights make for useless wizards)? 5 more pounds, and another 2 for the backpack-you'd be a fool to try to tote a sleeping bag over one shoulder all day. A full waterskin is 4 pounds, and doesn't carry more than enough for about four days even if you're real careful about rationing it. Travel rations weigh a pound per day's worth of food, and it's a pretty good idea to plan for at least a couple days' delay. Let's say you take 4 to match with the capacity of your waterskin. That leaves you at, uh... 3 pounds past the cutoff for medium load. More, if your DM doesn't ignore the weight of your clothing. If you give all but 10 of your bolts to the group barbarian you can just barely carry a dagger for emergency melee. If you can't ignore clothing weight, you'll have to either give the bedroll to another party member too or do without. If you also can't ignore the 1 pound/50 coins of any material, well... hope that there's a trustworthy bank that'll hold it until you get back, which may well be years down the road. I bet you're really wishing you had a bag of holding type 1 (weighs 15 pounds, holds 250, costs 2,500 gold) about now.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend you. I can understand the torch thing, but the bag of holding? Yes, that is going to be alot of weight to carry. Thats part of it. One has to prepare for that as well. If one can cram whatever one might need into a small bag, there would be no limit to what could be put in there. It would several dozen if not hundred pounds of weight but part of it would be having to adapt to that, to work around it. Its why I mentioned the cart. We have what? 5, 6 people going on this thing? In a non-magical people had to move around with those kinds of needs and the managed to. Of course, they sacrificed many, shall we say, creature comforts? Yes, it would be hard, but I think it would make a better story.

Heh, Annuit Coeptis.. it's on the back of the $1 bill.
It translates roughly to God Prospers or God has Prospered Us.

Just a reminder on how I work the spells:
Mjolnir wrote:I'm using the D&D magic as a basis, but with a few modifications. Basically, according to D&D, you have so many spells of various levels depnding on your characters level. You must choose the spells you learn for each day in the morning and those are all you have for that day. The way I work it, though, is those spell levels are converted to magic points. (So someone with 3 1st, 2 2nd and 1 3rd level spells would have 10 spell points.) These points can be spent on any spell you know at any time during that day.

Well, I aint gonna worry about it. Deac is not going to be casting that much magic anyway.

I can hear RM now...

"Yes! YES! 225 castings of Magic Missile every day!" (possibly more, since his class is primarily the Red Wizard prestige class I don't have a template for) "I knew faking +20 on Business Management so I could buy out WotC and rewrite the game mechanics would work!"

I have no problem with it. Just PM me with what kind of character you're thinking of.
