Oooh, Solidus is in trouble....

[...unWARP!]
Good evening.
Not exactly sure what happened on this strip.......
Solidus "found" Velvet hiding in a box:
Shouldn't Velvet have been bouncing all over the walls?
Why is he so lethargic? Is that wildlife repellant the reason he's lethargic and has bloodshot eyes?
I assume Zoot just unwarped there, hence his not being affected by the spray?
And how does that wildlife repellant work, exactly? Could it tell the difference between a non-anthro squirrel and an anthro raccoon, or even an anthro squirrel like Thelma's friends?
?Zacatep?ngolas!
Until next time, remember:
I
AM
THE
J.A.M. (a.k.a. Numbuh i: "Just because I'm imaginary doesn't mean I don't exist")
Good evening.

Awwwww, poor Velvet. He looks so sad and pathetic in that picture!
But yes, mildly put, this is going to be trouble...

An understatement. Doomed seems more appropriate.

If one decides he is morally offended, it would be good not to be a thief in the first place.
I suspect if Solidus knew it was a young sapient being that stole his Jolt, he would not have used wildlife repellent. A hickory switch, yes.

Nah, would have sold the punk.

One boy,
Boy for sale.
He's going cheap.
Only seven guineas.
That -- or thereabouts.

Poor Velvet looks like he is crawling out of the box after a three day binge bloodshot eyes and all.

Actually, no, sorry, never read that.
Nope, nope, nope, it's something else.

Raymond E. Feist?

Goodness, so many guesses! But none of them are what I was thinking of. I've never heard of Raymond E. Feist, and though I know the general story of Oliver Twist, I'm not all that familiar with it.
No, this is something else.
Something I would have hoped at least one of the answerees so far would be familiar with... (and yes, that is a hint of sorts).

I don't think he'll sprout wings. He drank Jolt, not Red Bull.
