Anthro D&D Races...

Ok, just something I've been thinking about since the start of this storyline: Apparantly, Ben's using the classic D&D races: humans, dwarves, elves, etc...

...But instead of their classic humanoid imagery, RHJr's using furries?

to quote a beer commercial: BRILLIANT! :D

Darnit, now I wish I'd seen this storyline years ago when I tried starting my own first Furry D&D campaign.. I've had headaches trying to create Racial stats for all sorts of furries and trying to play-balance anthro animal templates of all sorts...

...If I'd realized I could just take standard races, then putting them in furry skins, it would've saved me a whole lot of trouble.

Once again, Kudos to you, Ralph. Kudos.

It's an iteresting idea to be sure, but not one i'm incredibly fond of.

There are a few anthro races in D&D: Kobolds, Gnolls, Lizardfolk, Dracotaurs, Catfolk I can think of off the top of my head.

But as for furry DnD, I had my own system I was toying with, basically it consisted fo point-buying abilities and stuff. I'll post it when I get back to my dorm if you like.

I've seen just about every single variation on Furry DnD I can think of, but sadly I've never been satisfied with any of them, including the ones I've tried working out on my own.

Ben's version has, quite frankly, the advantage of Real Simplicity. I can just tell players to pick the PHB race of their choice, and then just treat the furry race as a cosmetic effect. ...Seems to be how Ralph is handling it, anyways.

Mind you, in the GURPS Banestorm I'm running, I just replaced Humans with Furries, and kept all the other basic races: Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, etc..
