Question: how much should Ben REALLY eat?

Good evening.

We all remember the storylines where Ben was trying to loose weight. However, as a Brown Bear, what SHOULD his ideal weight be? It obviously can't compare to a 6'n" human, since Ben is a carnivore. Apparently, he had a problem eating candy, but then again, as a bear, he would be normally large.

Some of you may have seen the comic strip "The Whiteboard", featuring a polar bear named Doc. This strip here more or less explains what I'm talking about. Doc is known for eating harp seals, wouldn't it be normal for Ben to eat large amounts of food anyway? Lily, also a carnivore, would eat proportional amounts to her species, but I'm not sure how much she would...

I guess the basic question here is: how much "bear" is in Ben?

Bears are actually rather omnivorous. Even the polar bear suppliments its diet with kelp and the black bear is mostly vegetarian.

Anyway, since Ben doesn't have the winter woes that real-life bears have, he requires fewer calories. He also doesn't have to actively work for food (e.g., by foraging or farming), which further reduces his caloric needs. Even if Ben is "100% bear", he's not going to need as many calories as a real-life, wild bear.

He maintians enough muscle mass to lift a refrigerator...but he does diet and buys peeps for the posse. I guess he just really, really strong and has to maintain enough body protein and nutrients to maintain the requirments.
