Sharuuk --- Correct, altho technically, the Galaxy class is still the largest massed (heavyest) ship in the Fed Fleet. Personally, i wouldnt complain no matter which of them ya gave me. ;)
As well, i would like to know WHAT they did with the Stargazer, as the E-D did tow her "home" somplace at the end of the ep.

Mad Mike --- Gods have ya got that dead on. weapon for weapon, the E-D was still far superior to the Bird Of Prey, even without shields. it was just for the drama of the show (the producers and staff, more or less, were ACHING to blow up the E-D and kill Kirk) that it went down that way, realisticly, youd of thought Riker woulda tossed a few dozen of the 275 torpedoes at his command to wipe out the BOP.

And in case yer wondering -- im not one of those wakko fans that don on fake ears, a uniform and go to trek conventions. i like the show for the SHOW as well as for the ships, im fairly heavy into the treknology as it were. i also play a LOT of Star Trek Armada 2, and tend to "mod" the ships somewhat -- ive currently a patch i picked up that makes the ships "realisitic" to what they should be, as to canon. lol

btw... how many of yas heard that ST Enterprise will be canned after its 5th season? i caught it on the news, theyve made it final from what ive gathered.

That was why I put quotes around "courtesy" in the statement. I figured RK'd know what I was talking about......YOU did!

Actually, Picard did lose 3 ships. Stargazer, Enterprise D and Enterprise E. In First Contact, the Borg took control of the Enterprise and Picard ordered the crew to abandon ship. He then had to "take back" the Enterprise.

As for Janeway, Starfleet had to promote her to Admiral to make sure she didn't lose any more ships. :D

BTW, Enterprise is being killed this year. It's last episode will air in May (none too soon, IMHO).

If by "lose the ship" you mean having control taken from him or being destroyed, that happenend almost every season. In "All Good Things" Picard lost three Enterprises almost at once!

Pickard has lost command of the Enterprise from everything from Ferengis to holograms.

Good point, Squeaky. Kind of pathetic, if you think about it. I mean, this was supposed to be the flagship of the Federation for crying out loud. Give me Jim "Set Phasers to BBQ" Kirk any day. :)

Actually I liked Janeway and Archer to "balding Billy"

Babylon 5 still ranks as the best of the breed in my book though.

"Repeat after me: 'Ivonova is God.'"

One of the best characters in all of sci-fi, IMHO. And the fact that Claudia Christian is damn hot was a nice bonus. :D

Ah yes....the B-5 Mantra. And I loved the little follow-up as she looks at the ceiling...."Uh, about that God thing.....just kidding, okay?"

You'll like this. At a "Women of SciFi" con a couple of years ago here in Orlando, Claudia was autographing a B5 t-shirt I was wearing. While she was doing this I told her that I did the limo thing and had met many stars and celebs. When I said she was one of the very few women I'd met that was actually prettier in person than in character and that I thought Ivanova was serious FOX, she pushed back from me with the HUGE smile on her face and in this voice loud enough for the whole room to hear... THANK YOU....OH...I LOVE YOU!!!! Wraps both arms around my neck, stands on tip toe (she's a tiny thing) and plants this 10-15 second lip-lock on me! :o

The whole room goes nutzo with hoots, whistles, yells & cheers. My friend who had brought me has this MASSIVE crush on her and called me everything but a white man when I finally sat back down. :-?

VERY nice and personable lady......and a GREAT kisser!!

The funny part is that no one other than Claudia heard what I had said. All the audience saw and heard was her autographing my chest and then suddenly yelling "I love you" and planting this killer kiss on me.

And people wonder why I go to cons....

"I don't say that the Enterprise should be hauling garbage, I'm saying it should be hauled away AS garbage..."

Hopefully there won't be any tribble started.

Is there such a thing as being subtle with a Klingon???

It might not have the same effect as you'd get by dangling a rubber mouse in front of a Kzin.

No DS9 fans here? Benjamin Sisko was my favorite.

Picard was a wuss. Couldn't stand Riker. But the family liked Next Gen.

I liked Kirk but serving under him would be too dangerous.

Never cared much for Voyager and Janeway - I felt they had the weakest cast and plots of all the Star Trek versions. Even the family didn't warm to this one.

I liked Sisko MUCH better when he shaved his head and grew the beard. It fit him so much better and I've always loved Avery Brooks as "Hawk" in the "Spenser, For Hire" series.

I always thought it gave his words just that much more intensity whenever he'd get PO'd.....like with the Romulans and their cloaked warbird orbiting the station.

Odo was also a favorite.

The doctors have always been the most interesting characters, well, other than Crusher.

I really don't want to ruin the good vibe, but I know more then a few people who think Janeway is best suited to serve Starfleet anywhere except at the bridge of a starship..*

...Although, after seeing Voyager, I'd put the blame more seriously on a severe amount of plot-induced stupidity on the part of everyone, especially that darned "Status Quo End of Episode Reset" rule which apparantly allowed Voyager to magically replace lost shuttlecrafts and make perfect repairs on the ship without access to Starfleet resources, amongst other things.

*Want an exemple? Ok: When a godlike Q entity offers to bring you and your whole damn crew back to Earth in exchange for being the mother of his child, the proper response isn't "Get Lost, Q!" but "Ok, but you'll still respect me in the morning, right?"

When you think about it, Voyager's entire premise was based on a giant plot-induced stupidity right from the first episode.

OK, so you need the Caretaker's array to get home. But there's a hostile alien species that you can't allow to get their hands on the array, and the only way to prevent it is to blow it up, and if you blow it up you can't use it to get home...

...er, wait. Has no one on that ship ever heard of a time-delayed bomb? OK, granted, maybe that sort of thing isn't standard Starfleet issue, but gee, I bet some of those Maquis you just let on board your ship probably know how to make some devices that'll make the array Blow Up Real Good about 2 minutes after it sends you back home, and right about the time the first batch of alien nasties steps through the airlock...

This is known as the "idiot plot" -- as in, a plot that only works if the characters are stupid enough to overlook something blindingly obvious. (Or, alternatively, known as such because the writers are hoping that the audience is dumb enough not to pick up on it.)
