Yes, it was. In fact, GIJoe and Transformers both had comics at the same time as they had cartoons and toylines, and in both cases, they were far more serious then the cartoons, with far more interesting plotlines, such as the Snake-Eyes/Storm Shadow saga, Cobra Commander's Son, the coup/counter-coup/counter-counter-coup which keep happening in Cobra's leadership...
...More importantly, I like what DDP's done with that continuity, making it fresh and relevent once more..

I never knew that, I never could catch the original mini-series. Of course the 80's was the highlight of censorship, which is why Robotech had so much cut out compared to the original Macross.SolidusRaccoon wrote:BZZZT wrong-o, in the first GI JOE mini series we did see cobra planes get destroyed without the pilot parachuting to safety. That was quickly changed to always making sure to show them escaping the plane before it blew.
And also the comic series had plenty of deaths on both sides.
I never got my hands on any of their comics, but I've heard that they were more realistic compared to the cartoon. Tomax and Xamot were ruthless when they captured a whole freeking squad of Joes.
But I'm a child of their cartoon and toy line, so that's all my memories are of.
Allow me to introduce myself--Corporal "Bo" Kiana, Ex-Army, "Warmongering Psychopath Tool!"

Well, during a storyline in the comics, a dozen Joes were slaughtered by a single Cobra agent, the SAW Viper, who's recently come back in the DDP series as "Overkill".BoKiana wrote:SolidusRaccoon wrote:I never got my hands on any of their comics, but I've heard that they were more realistic compared to the cartoon.
