Thanks for the laugh, Tbolt!
Breeds that are used as working dogs tend to be a little bit brighter than those bred exclusively for looks, but there's a natural personality to each breed too. Black Labrador retrievers are usually pretty hyper and energetic. Irish setters do tend to be a bit dim. Jack Russell Terriers are insane, but brave. I saw one attack a full-grown cow elk with a calf... The response was interesting. Terrier running back to "Daddy" (Save me!) with a ton of motherly retribution on four hooves in hot pursuit. That wouldn've made a nice little home movie.
Thankfully, I'm not "Daddy". My brother-in law has that honor.
Fast thinker, too. He jumped up waving his arms and yelling, right into the face of that cow elk.
She planted her hooves in a four-point skid, spun around, and ran back to the herd.
That could have ended differently, but hey... If it worked, it was the right thing to do.

Undoubtedly, the more training a dog gets, the smarter he or she will become. And I'm not just talking officeial calsses, either. The owner(s) have to stimulate the dog at home as well.
I'm proud to say that Thor has graduated from all three obidience class that PetSmart offiers (Puppy, Intermediate and Advanced). Now we just need to teach him how to shut the door when he comes in.

Exactly what I"m saying, unguided, stimulated, and trained, some dogs can act more idiotic than others.
OOOOOOO! A german shepherd! And hes a handsome one! I'm trying to train little puppy Eriko, its been a long times since we had a puppy in the house (Jessie was a very clever and mellow puppy) and I'm already trying to train her, trying hard, but shes 7wks old this week and well........not sure where she should be in progress.

There really shouldn't be a whole lot of progress at 7 weeks, IIRC. As long as she doesn't try to bite everything in sight, I think you're fine.
Since we've taken it, I highly recommend the PetSmart Puppy training course. You get all the basics and it really helps with a young puppy. I can't even imaging what our monster would be like if he didn't get trained when he did.
