Elf denial
So now we know how Ben left his old position. I wonder if Fred went with him to help with the arcade?

Didn't Fred buy into the arcade as a silent partner?Squeaky Bunny wrote:So now we know how Ben left his old position. I wonder if Fred went with him to help with the arcade?

What really sent the boss over the edge was when Rico told him he wanted to be a dentist.Squeaky Bunny wrote:So now we know how Ben left his old position. I wonder if Fred went with him to help with the arcade?

Over and over and over and over and over and over and over..
Boy I can relate to that last panel, though. Welcome to Meijer/Home Quarters/ Home Depot, where from November to January you hear CHRISTMAS songs, and nothing but Christmas songs on the Intercom, over and- Well you get the idea.

remake remake
The last week or so before Christmas a local FM channel plays holiday music 24/7. Usually this is good because, to fill the time, in the past they played music you normally don't hear.
Christmas in Kilarney, Christmas in the Trenches, Soul Cake, Good King Wenceslaus, etc.
This year, they went the other way.
Do you have any idea how many remakes there are of the Christmas 'Standards'? They didn't exactly 'repeat' themselves, because every rendition was by someone else.
After the umpteenth remake of 'Sleigh Ride', forget postal, I was ready to Fed-Ups on the station.

Re: remake remake
Well, at the one store I worked at, they did play Christmas in Kilarney, the standards, and this one innane song by somebody who sounded like Dean Martin. I'm not really up on my old timey singers, but I came to absolutely hate that song.squirrelly61104 wrote:The last week or so before Christmas a local FM channel plays holiday music 24/7. Actually, because of my retail experience, I dislike most Christmas music. Most of the secular stuff, anyhow. The traditionals were few and far between in the retail stores. Can't imagine why, can you? So, I do know what Ben's feeling. I bet HE had to listen to it eight hours a day, five days a week, too.

But at least those were variations on a theme. Having a loop repeat of the same eight lines every few minutes is a torture worthy of Wo Fat or Fu ManChu.
Either way it's enough to make you tear your hair out. (and some of us look like we've been through it all before)

Yup and for the legal protection as a silent partner he had better keep the fuzzy tail out from behind any counters at GH.Sharuuk wrote:Didn't Fred buy into the arcade as a silent partner?Squeaky Bunny wrote:So now we know how Ben left his old position. Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

He did help Ben move things and do the set up, so Fred has bent the rules a little as far as silent partnership goes.
Looking at the almost empty box and Ben going to talk to the Boss about it, I can imagine the discussion to follow.
IRL, I'm surprised that the ACLU and their fellow asshats haven't been trying to keep churches from displaying Nativity sceens. (or have I missed something?)

Then he had better send me a little green or else he may have an unfortunate encounter with the IRS. Just saying is all. 8)Squeaky Bunny wrote:He did help Ben move things and do the set up, so Fred has bent the rules a little as far as silent partnership goes.

I need to keep my standards of living up; maybe I will swing by your place and take a peek in your trash. Since thatSqueaky Bunny wrote:Silly raccoon! St. Patrick's day isn't for two months, and the IRS (together it says theirs) doesn't celebrate till April.

Yeah that would be hard to track by the tax goons. And I bet it would get taxed twice. From the business and then from the takes of each of the partners. Makes me sick.

There are so many ways around this, it isn't funny.SolidusRaccoon wrote:Yeah that would be hard to track by the tax goons. And I bet it would get taxed twice. From the business and then from the takes of each of the partners. Makes me sick.
As a cash business, they might get some more interest then non-cash businesses, but business is business, and this one looks like a sure winner in a bored town.
