No, there wasn't enough "ominous hummmmmmmmmmmmm" or "THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" for it to be Schlock.

Maybe they rehabilitated (are rehabilitating?) one of the "insanity tulpas" from that box that Ookami(sp?) Lobo had, or something similar from another source. "Ben's Home for Semi-Imaginary Beings"??? Either that, or it is a REALLY good movie prop that one of the Posse pushed the button for. A distant third possibility would be that Pif has shape-shifting powers, since he is the avatar of free-form(no pun intended) adaptability.

Okay, I think we need to make one thing clear:

This is not a home for wayward tulpas. It is an arcade, a business dealing with electronic entertainment. The idea of it being some kinda place for displaced tulpas no doubt spawned from the skunk's (Charlie, was it?) idea that Goblin Hollow is a home for goblins. No one thought to wait things out or to ask Ralph what the heck was going on.

For the record, let's put that idea to rest, okay? Ralph is not bringing in more insane midgets; 7 of 'em is quite enough.

Now, as to this alien creature...

My best guess is it's one of three things.

1.) A prop activated by one of the posse at the exact right moment. This is probably the most likely answer; no doubt Ben has a whole bunch of junk lying around this place. The King Kong fist that scared that other kid is just one example I'm sure.

2.) A costume worn by one of the posse. This one is also a strong possibility, as we've seen both Morty and Zoot do this to spook the kids a little. Still, you could tell it was them. Either this is a very big costume, or this guess is not correct. Time will tell.

3.) The posse are showing a power unknown until now: the ability to alter their appearance. Notice how carefully I worded that. We don't know if the posse can alter their physical shape (though they do change clothes a lot), or if they just use their powers to alter people's perceptions of them. Remember, they can choose who is able to see and hear them, possibly a psychic power derived from their origins in Ben's psyche. It is possible they use this to alter how people see them. Still, it is only speculation.

Time will tell what is the correct answer. I get the feeling this room may be the posse's hangout, thus the light's being off and the weird alien thing at the door. Encourages kids to obey the sign out front.

Keep it up, Ralph; ya got me hooked.

Speculation is fun for some of us. I assumed that the response to asking Ralph would be "wait and see, I don't want to ruin the plot by definitively resolving anything before its time". For the record, I don't think I have ever heard Ralph complain about speculation as such... someone (Ralph?) please correct me if this is incorrect or if he does indeed dislike this sort of thing but has been too polite to say so where I could read it. Or course, the fact that YOU don't like it is a fact worthy of consideration in and of itself. By which I mean things including the following: perhaps speculation should be plainly marked as such so that people who find it distasteful (or whatever) can skip it. That might be polite of me and others who like seeing how well we can guess...

I believe it looks like the tulpa to the far left. Perhaps someone set up an homunculi to keep the patrons out of the house proper.

I ain't trying to be mean or anything, but Ralph just couldn't believe how far off track people had been on that one. He'd just about put up a large, glowing neon sign in the comic saying, "Goblin Hollow: The Ultimate Arcade".

And then people go and think it's a home for wayward tulpas. *facepalm* Oy, it makes ya wonder what people are thinking...

In any case, this is an arcade. Even if the thing looks like a tulpa from earlier, I think all of those were destroyed. If it is that one, though, Ralph will let us know soon enough. Right now, I'm enjoying the filler. Rowr.

Hmmm, I am beginning to think that you are correct in saying that the 'homeless shelter' thing wouldn't make any sense. OTOH just because the INCOME is as an arcade wouldn't NECESSARILY exclude the possibility that they might be taking in a few 'charity cases' on the side. That would hardly be the sort of thing they would advertise to the general public...

I, for one, never said it WASN'T an arcade. It obvious was, I merely was allowing for the possibility that wasn't ALL it was.
