The point is a lot of people (many of them very vocal) don't think that way. They tend to assume "if you have the opportunity, you will". Mostly because they would.

As said before, it's not really a question of what Ben and Lily think or do, but what others think of them. But for now Lily's safety and peace of mind is more important to Ben than anything else. To me it's a good sign of the feelings they have for each other.
I'm not all that familiar with Christianity, but in Judaism one is forbidden to place oneself in a position were it might appear to others that you are breaking one of the 613 commandments, even if in fact you are doing nothing wrong.

If Christianity has a similar rule, then Ben and Lily have obviously crossed the line.

I'm letting you make the obvious guess as to what that food is made of.
Chicken, beef or fish.

I've never seen rabbit cat food. :)
And yet...

I just want to point out that this is probably <.1% of the size of the total constitution+legislation of and now existing country...
So don't be too quick to complain about 'too many rules'...

It looks like I was right about the slippers and Velvet.

Hmm... I need to get me some of that... <wanders off to look for Zimwey, his pet cat. "fluffy, fluffy, fluffy">.

Drac, calm down. I'm not criticizing any religion. However, I've never been a fan of unnecessary legislation ... and since some things just don't make sense to me in the majority of religions, I chose my own.

I am calm.
So then you think that every country on earth at the moment has too much legislation?
Not that I really would know enough to give any useful input on such a question... nor do I even care in any great sense, just interested.

Defiantly. There's unneeded legislation in every state, in every country.

I live in Tennessee. In this state, there's a ban on giving away free ice cream. There's a law specifically permitting the consumption and sale of roadkill. In New South Wales, Australia, it is legal to relieve yourself in public if you do it next the rear left tire.

There are plenty more. I'd consider this a short list, honestly.

Now's the part where I have to be careful not to piss people off.

I'm an extremely logical person. I don't weigh anything on faith or random guessing. I see a ban on free ice cream, the same as a commandment not to eat shrimp. It doesn't make sense to me, even after reading the text. Therefore, I don't follow those rules.

Now, to say that's the only reason I don't follow any organized religions just because I don't like rules is a generalization ... my fault. But...

My brain just died.

Oh heck, that's just human nature. We can't help making things more complicated. We read "Thou shalt not bear false witness" and come up with half a dozen perfectly reasonable exceptions to the rule on the spot. Thus are lawyers created...

Anyhow, they went ahead and slept together - those irresponsible kids...

In Jesus' time, there was the Pharisees, mentioned frequently in the gospels. This group considered themselves to be "proper, Orthodox Jews" who obeyed every rules to the letter - so much so that not only did they follow every one of the several hundred rules that were based on the Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament), but they had several hundred more rules they had created on their own which they also followed. Jesus, who only had two rules (love God with all your heart and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself), frequently challenged the Pharisees for overlooking the most important things as they followed their mechanistic approach.
