UTLT is back! Yay Ralph!! Woo-hoo!!!
That critter acts like Ben's deep inner weasel, but I don't know if weasels have "masks"...?
Cherish your deep inner weasel, people!

Okay, we have votes on "ferret" and "weasel"... I thought it was a rather short racoon myself (which explains the mask). As for what it represents, I think it's an offshoot of Ben's "devious" nature.
any other guesses on "what"?
Ferret?

[...unWARP!!!]
Good evening.
Either it crossed over somehow from the Funday Pawpet Show...
...or it's part of someone's Posse...
Lili's, maybe?
Hey, Ralph, I see your apartment is more or less functioning. Is it?
Until next time, remember:
I AM THE J.A.M.
Good evening.

Well, it did call Ben "boss", so we've got a good clue to whom it belongs...
Now if we can figure out why he's taken so long to show up. Has this entire experience shaken him up a bit, destabilized him maybe?
Well, that or he coulda been overexposed to the attorney-drones. Sneaky little buggers

Racoon: Deviousness.
Yeah, I'm new here. Came over with the crossover and eventually read all your strips. You really should have a story dropdown, Ralph.

Ferret - representing Bens sneaky/devious side. It hasn't shown up before now becuase he hasn't needed it. If you look at the tail in the last panel it doesn't have the markings to be a racoon.
It does look a lot like the Furry Pawpet charater from the Nip and Tuck/Furry Pawpet cross over.
OH, CR*P!

That's not a ferret OR a raccoon... THAT'S A HEEBA!
(I think. If I'm wrong, I apologize for scaring anyone unnecessarily...)

all riiiighty then.... ferrets it is.
I'm just wondering if the sudden apperance of new posse members is gonna be a recuring theme here... Ben already has six and the only other person who has a posse was doing fine with two (
http://utlt.keenspace.com/d/20010820.html ). This keeps up, Ben will need a superfortress of his own for housing purposes.
Ferreting out the answer

Well the appearance of Epiphany is surprising, but how else could Ben weasel his way out of that mess?

Since the posse is a physical manefestation of Ben's subconcious I like to think that he has so many members because he has a strong mind. The posse seems to have helped him, he has become a much stronger individual than he was in the early strips. That's one of the things that I like about Ralph's work, his characters change and grow. Too many cartoonists keep their characters fairly static except for occassional radical changes. Ralph's characters grow and change in a more lifelike manner.
BTW, If Lilly had a posse I wonder what they would be like?

What I'm wondering is... will the ferret remain in the Posse once Ben "wakes up?"
Or... and this just occurred to me... could the ferret be introducing himself through some sort of left-brained method intentionally, so when Ben "wakes up" the ferret won't shock him into whimpering heebie jeebies?
