That second panel reminded me of this one scene from the Jim Carrey movie, "The Mask."
Remember that part?

heh, ya, (I loved those guns!) of course, Ben and the Pose's do more than go "click"
Only one thing bugs me...

Ben's subconscience apparently thinks more clearly than he does, getting a truckload of backup firepower, while he forgets to take the safety off his weapon

Also Ben's inner child is noticably absent in the second panel. It would be weird to see Velvet packing heat...
Hey, this has me thinking...Remember the storyline from
way back in the archives when Ben got mugged? Was it ever explained why his hostility couldn't materialize with a bazooka at that point?
Uhh...or maybe I should keep telling myself: "It's just a cartoon, I really should learn to relax..."

i had always assumed that it was because he and his hostility were both living in a world where bazookas were not readily available to the average individual. i think by 'shopping', the posse meant they were acquiring real-time weapons, not manifesting them from wherever it is they came from.
i for one am glad to see velvet well out of it. the inner child nature doesn't really need to be killing people/loxies/anything real, lest ben lose his sense of innocence and the simple happiness of a healthy inner child. it makes sense for all the others:
1. sheldon - it's perfectly logical to fight in this situation. intellect dictates that the correct choice at the moment is sheer firepower.
2. morty - anxiety and fear are powerful self-preservation impulses.
3. gunther - he's gunther. nuff said.
4. slick - part of 'machismo' is being able to take care of yourself in a fight.
5. zoot - hey, everybody else is doin it! besides, it's kind of fun, like a video game (you don't expect the party animal to be thinking about consequences or anything silly like that!
but there's really no reason for the side that's supposed to be his naivete, his sensitivity, his innocence to be involved. you have to retain some part of your soul untouched by the taking of life, or you get to like it a little too much.
peace out,
geo

Well said, I agree that Velvet should probably be left out, although perhaps Ralph plans to have him involved later in some fashion. Maybe he'll disarm the loxies with bambi eyes?
Velvet?

Or else cause them all to have massive attacks of nausea?
(I'm thinking of the drawing Ralph did of Velvet. saying "So cute, you just wanna fwow up.")
Loxies: "They've brought out their secret weapon! The uber-cute attack!"
Psychic projections are bulletproof?

I just noticed this: Ben is wearing body armor, but his posse isn't. Now we've learned that Ben's little friends can travel via some sort of teleportation, and carry physical objects with them (an astoundingly useful trait on the battlefield, I would guess!) but if a loxie's weapon happens to strike one of the posse, does that cause injury... to the member struck , or to Ben personally?
If Gus is put out of commission, does Ben become less agressive?
And most importantly..
Why do I keep confusing myself with this sort of thing?

well, you know, there is that whole 'elephants afraid of mice' old wives tale...maybe, in a world where loxies are not-quite-elephants, they would mistake velvet for a not-quite-mouse...?
i'm just sayin, is all...
