Huh. That was the year I was there, oddly enough. My friends are with Blacksilver, so we were camped right next to the stonecutter encampment, near the highway. I remember seeing glowworms for the first time ever, walking back in the dark one night.

I did have to escape for an afternoon, though, and go find a cheeseburger.

You didn't find one at the EMT's meal tent next to the troll booth? The local EMT's reputedly get 90% of their annual operating budget from that 10-day concession {grin}!

Were you up in the woods near the highway or out on the Serengeti (open field)?

Woods, definitely. There was a tiny memorial by the side of the road, in memory of a vole; "Death by nearsightedness," if I recall correctly. Blacksilver apparently sends out people very early each year to get a good spot.

I didn't know they had burgers by the troll; I went back to my car and drove down the road a bit to a fast-food place. I liked the sign on one place I passed: "Welcome SCA! Fresh pies".

Sometimes I think about going back for another week (I don't think I could manage two) but I never have enough money that time of year, etc., etc. Have to content myself with the Renfest. Oh the hardship...
