Small arms? Fire!
It looks like there's a full compliment of dwarves here. Jebediah being Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy, and could probably use a Doc.

Yay, chipmunks!

But as for hitting the contact,

In our D+D game "Joyous Roguery," Jebediah is a recurring NPC character--- a rather dullwitted member of "the thug's guild", the stupid muscle associated with the thieve's guild ( Or "Middleman's Guild," as we euphemise it.)
He had quite a string of showing up unexpectedly on a mission-- unfortunately for him Honest McGillicuddy has hairtrigger reaction time and a pistol crossbow of sleep. more than once Honest has seen something moving in the shadows, spun around and fired off a shot--- and dropped Jebediah on the spot.

Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
She has eyes that folks adore so,
and a torso even more so.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of Tattoo.
On her back is The Battle of Waterloo.
Beside it, The Wreck of the Hesperus too.
And proudly above waves the red, white, and blue.
You can learn a lot from Lydia!
When her robe is unfurled she will show you the world,
if you step up and tell her where.
For a dime you can see Kankakee or Paree,
or Washington crossing The Delaware.

Lydia The Tattooed Lady.
When her muscles start relaxin',
up the hill comes Andrew Jackson.
Lydia, oh Lydia, that encyclo-pidia.
Oh Lydia The Queen of them all.
For two bits she will do a mazurka in jazz,
with a view of Niagara that nobody has.
And on a clear day you can see Alcatraz.

Come along and see Buffalo Bill with his lasso.

Here's Godiva, but with her pajamas on.

Over on the west coast we have Treasure Isle-on.
Here's Nijinsky a-doin' the rhumba.
Here's her social security numba.

Oh Lydia The Champ of them all.
She once swept an Admiral clear off his feet.

Narnian, I was terribly tempted to do that several posts back but was afraid no one would get the reference. I give you high Marx for your effort.
One thing bothers me about the knife thrower. If it is poisoned, why is he holding it by the blade?

Because he is confident in his own abilities and that is how knives are usually thrown?Squeaky Bunny wrote:One thing bothers me about the knife thrower. If it is poisoned, why is he holding it by the blade?
Incidently, I think that any contact who is both disorganized enough to not give more specific meeting instructions, AND not enough better than the lower ranking people he is supposed to be breifing to NOT be able to sneak up on them deserves what he gets... well... maybe not the poison...
Knives can be thrown by either the handle or the blade. It actually depends on the distance to the target, how the knife is thrown, and the rotational moment of the knife. Usually you want to give the blade as much velocity as you can and as little spin as possible without losing stability.
Generally at short or long range you will throw from the handle and from middling ranges you will throw from the blade. At even longer ranges you would throw from the blade again and then the handle again and so on. At ong ranges you would miss.
Most cinematic knife throws are done at blade held distances. This is usually going to be the way you hold the knife to throw at a target across a room.

Uh, I don't think that it would be too wise to hold the poisoned part of any sharp object.DracoDei wrote:Because he is confident in his own abilities and that is how knives are usually thrown?Squeaky Bunny wrote:One thing bothers me about the knife thrower. Easy way to explain it, a guantlet designed for throwing poisoned items, IE, extra leather to prevent the blade from cutting you, yet supple enough to not cause any penalties for throwing. Our rogue actually had a friend, who was a leatherworker, design him up one to prove to us that it could be done.

Understandable. But our Gully Dwarf friend is throwing barehanded and. . .
